Anti-Archive Post ...

Got the rear axle back in and mocked up the anti-wrap bar from Ruff Stuff. Also picked up frames, foam and covers for what I'm affectionately calling The Most Expensive Seats in the World. Thank God for Dad's blasting capabilities.

Now that Tasker's checking in, I thought I better pick a different speed. So here are some shots right out of the paint booth, aka my third bay. Nason single stage urethane, four coats with a 3m Accuspray gun and 1.4 mm tip. Lots of orange spray, but I think we can fix most of that in post.

Yeah, a little bit country, a little bit rock 'n roll. The best part about them is the bottoms are the same as ours, so I can still use the footman loop, if I switch the driver's with the passenger seat. Just a rendering, above, but I'm close to finishing the real ones. Thanks for the props.

Finished the seats tonight. Turned out okay, I think, for a amateur.

Totally trying (and failing) to emulate englewood cowboy's Duck build here. Al's HNR and then tinted Raptor liner. The Raptor, as always, was great. The HNR I had a tougher time with, completely due to my inexperience with a hopper gun. Sprayed it on way too thick and got some runs and even pooling. Nothing too problematic, though. So just a little warning to all out there that it takes a lighter touch than you might think. Also "installed" the floor covering. Took about 12 seconds.

As you may already know, and I can now confirm, painting the windshield hinge does not work at all if you are planning to actually lower the windshield at any time. So, I was forced to remove the hinge and windshield frame. I looked at getting a SS hinge from WH, but shipping was more than the price of the hinge. So

the plan is to try and get something from one of the airplane surplus houses in Wichita. If not, I'll get a standard hinge from LMC here in KC and try powder coating it.

Not on the Bronco, but have to show off my birthday present from my Dad. Powder coated red with gold flake ... Awesome.

It looks great! Those windshield hinges can be a PITA to paint. Trick is to paint them thin, just get coverage and then light on the clear, they will chip and crack when you fold it so you will have to touch them up. Since I moved my wipers down, my windshield will not fold so I ended up seam sealing the hinge for final paint. If I had to do it again, I think I would eliminate the hinge for the drop wiper mod. Just remember the factory used a single stage so they would not get the mil thickness you will get with a base/clear paint job. The hinges will be susceptible to it. If you do plan on dropping your window, I would seriously consider a stainless hinge, weld it to the frame and bolt it to the cowl like the early Broncos did and do not paint the hinge.

Nice job, looking good! Love those seats!

When I painted my hinge I folded the frame back and forth several times between each coat as the paint starts to tack up, especially with any urethane based paint products. this allows the paint to separate at each little seam while it's soft and will help prevent some of the chipping problems when folding it down.
