what makes a off road carb different from a street carb? I understand that a off road carb won't flood or starve during steep hill climbs and ;Dunclimbs;D. is it the float ?

Mostly, It's the venting that makes it an off road carb. There is usually plumbing that extends the bowl vent up, so it doesn't slosh fuel from the bowl into the venturi durring bumps and unlevel driving.

Also, on an Edelbrock, carb, there are "off road" needle valves available. They have springs in them that keep the bouncing floats from dumping in too much fuel on washboard roads. But they really don't help at all on unlevel driving.

IMO do not buy into all that "off road" carb talk and waste your $. Edelbrock with all the tricks will still flood out going down steep hills. Q-jet has a better off road rep.

Best thing I found to work is a Motorcraft 2100 2 bbl, TBI, EFI or propane.

In addition to the float spring, the Bronco 2100/2150 has the bowl vents below the choke horn. Most have the vents extending above.
