Firstly, sorry for the bad pun. I couldn't resist.

I am going to be putting in a fairly large order to get a bunch of assorted nuts/bolts to reassemble the 73. Going with BoltDepot.com Anybody have experience with them? I am open to suggestions too.

I have some specific nuts/bolts that I know I need, but need some clarification on sizes, grades, etc.

Also, I want to go ahead and get an assortment of misc hardware since I'll be paying shipping anyways. So please, let me know if there are certain sizes just to have on hand. (ie 10/12 mm for foreign cars).

Here is the current list (correct me if I'm wrong on sizes/pitch):
1. Lower shock mount (stainless or grade 8?): (4) 1/2" x 2 1/2" with washers/locking nut
2. Rear Frame>Shackle Mount (grade 8): (2) 9/16" x 5" with washers/locking nut
3. Trac Bar to Frame (grade 8): (1) 9/16" x 3" with washers/locking nut
4. Trac Bar to Axle: (1) 3/4" Castle Nut (fine thread?)
5. Trans X-Member (grade 8): (8) 1/2" x 2"
6. Steering box (grade 8): (4) 9/16" x 4 1/2" with washers/locking nuts

That's just a start. I haven't gotten a chance to go over the entire thing to make a comprehensive list, but that's what I'm hoping you guys can help me with!

Check the venders catalog/web sites. They have some good bolt packages you could buy or get ideas/information/sizes from. I know Jeff's Bronco Graveyard has a lot of different packages. On certain things you might want to upgrade to ARP (flywheel,...). Hope this helps.:)

I order my arp bolts through Summit.

I've talked to/researched a few vendors in my travels and placed some fairly large orders. The problem is some of the kits I've received don't come with hardware. Not a problem though, I really just want to make up my own kit and order some extra to have on hand anyways!

I really just want to document what bolts go where and try to avoid any size/clearance issues people have had in the past.

You might want to check out Albany County Fasteners. Very good site for getting bolts and if you enter code CARD10 you get 10% off. You can order any quantity and shipping is free after 35 bucks. That's a good deal in itself cause them bolts get heavy. I ordered some bolts from another company a while back and the bolts were 60 bucks but the shipping was 12 dollars. Ken

If you have a Rural King near you they have a large selection of all grade bolts and hard to beat the price.
(1. Lower shock mount (stainless or grade 8?): (4) 1/2" x 2 1/2" with washers/locking nut) If you use a 2 1/2 bolt you will have threads inside your shock bushing, use a 3" and ct a 1/2 off the end if you don't like it sticking out.

have shopped bolt depot before. solid selection and reasonable pricing..there are a variety of deals out there, as mentioned. just have to decide what works for you.

you list a 9/16 bolts for your steering box. unless you've changed something they are 1/2 from the factory

Some great info already!

Ken, Gonna check out Albany Fasteners for sure, sounds like a great deal.

catfan, that's the kind of info I need! 3" it is. I dont have a Rural King, but I am going to price out Fastenal. I don't know why I didn't think of them sooner.

NicksTrix, No, I didn't change anything on the steering box. I'm at work and took a guess at it haha.

Keep in mind that generic stainless steel bolts are no stronger than SAE Grade 2 and may not be that strong. NFG for anything important.

Also know that using a SST nut on them is a recipe for a seized nut and/or galled threads. Anti-seize in the threads helps, but if they're on there for a while the anti-seize may not last.

If all you have in the shop are SAE Grade 8 bolts, then you or your helpers can never put a Grade 5 bolt in a place where it doesn't belong.

For Life Safety or "Mission Critical" bolts consider ARP or F911's.
