Timing chain slack?

Just recently took apart my 302 and I noticed some slack in the timing chain when I removed it... Is that normal or okay to have?

Is there a way to measure the amount of slack required?

damn boy you just tear up as ya go? If i had it off, id replace it unless its freshly rebuilt.....yea I used to know the answer to your question!
