Fords are pretty simple there; you use a manual transmission starter with a manual transmission or you use an automatic transmission starter with an automatic.
Size of the flywheel does not matter, the bellhousing corrects for that.

The newer year model mini-starters are really good.

I will be using the stock explorer starter out of the 99 that I pulled the motor out of.

Auto Starter will not work with a manual trans... Snout on the starter is too long.

This will work: PM starter 92 F150 5.0L Manual trans #N613181A O'Reilly's Pt#

The snout is too long and wonít fit in the bell housing or itís too long and the bendix gear will go past the starter ring?
