Took some time off because my welding (lack of) skills left the hood scoop warped and twisted, but then I realized I'm also warped and twisted, so I kept the ball rollin'. Not sure what I'm gonna do at the sides yet.... Not crazy about buying Bondo by the truck load, but I'll evaluate further later. Maybe.

Sprayed some epoxy primer on the back 40 hood with a new mini spray gun. The mini gun was fun, worked great!

Made a cardboard guide for the scoop side and a posterboard pattern to trace onto a sheet metal side. Next, twisting the side a bit to achieve the desired contour.

When you get done it will look awesome! At least when someone asks you "how much to build me one?" you can show them in pictures and time why its going to cost so much. Ha. Keep the pics coming too, looking great!

I like this look! I think you are planning a baffle, correct? I saw one in a later pic. If you do, consider moving it back inside further. That open scoop looks awesome!

Thanks RSPD505, and thanks for your earlier wise advice on welding. The baffle is sort of where it has be do in large part to a folded edge on the Ranger hood. I have two ideas sparring in my head. One is to black it out and add moon eyes looking out like on 60's-ish street rods. The other has to do with matching some grill mods that keep bubbling up in my brain.

Yuppers, it's gotta be (and gonna be) done! Here's one of the Hollander ways I used to get it closer to done. The shape I wanted had compound curves: slightly curved end to end and also slightly curved top to bottom toward the front. I did the long one with two clamps, two spacers and a cleat, the the top to bottom one with some pipe sections taped spoon-ish in a vice.

I got major league side-tracked today! Played with some paint. Showed me that I need to do better on the body work.
