PRetty cool. FOund an error on the early Mustang. Says C code motor is a 4V, when it's actually a 2V carb motor. Anyway, cool. Did fine with Bronco and Mercury Meteor VINs.

It's not very accurate. I typed in random vin numbers that I made up. As long as it starts with a "U15" etc, it show up as a bronco. I tried "U15GL731000" and it said it was a bronco built in 1964. I purposely screwed up the vin to see what would come up. The vin I tried would have been a 1964 bronco built with a 302 v8.

It says my 68 is also a 76, but seems to know Broncos were built in Michigan!

Shows my 67 as a 76. Dyslexic maybe.

It says my 68 is also a 76, but seems to know Broncos were built in Michigan!

He mentions those in the FAQS:

What causes a VIN to decode wrong (or not at all) ?

Primary cause is typos like putting in the letter O instead of the number 0,
or putting in dashes or spaces. Another cause is lack of information on
my part. I'm still working on 1960-1980 Fords because its difficult for
the program to figure out what year the car is. Similar issues exist for
AMC. Most of my info on Mercury is pretty spotty so some decode great
while others give bogus info. My latest challenge is making 1976 Ford trucks
decode properly since their serial range overlaps 1967/1968.

http://vinwiz.com/ ......it knows the basics .........

this GLK214xx should be a oct 1970 ...yet bc the plant ran out of dana 44s in the last week of sep 1970 . They pushed all ordered EBs that needed a D44 off the assembly line to the side and built and finished EBs w. Oct 1970 vins all w. D30s in 09/1970 !
Was told at one point in early oct 1970 over 300 EB sat around w.out dana 44 front axles !

On a personal note U15GLK214xx is the highest 09/1970 built EB I ever found !
and sorry to say its not my EB but I would luv to have it !
