I haven't made much progress lately  I have two weeks off for the Holiday so I should be able to get a few things done during that time.

I bolted some stuff to the Atlas

Almost popped an o-ring removing the 4R70W from my workbench

I got a few bars tacked together for the seat mounts. I'm picking up more steel tonight.

Seat and harness mounts are tacked into place. The sub strap will wrap around the front bar at the correct angle. After I get the harness bar in I will pull the cage to weld everything in.

very clean. I'm just curious what size and wall thickness tubing you used for your seat mounts...full cage is on my to-do list, and I'd like to mount my seats to something more than just sheet metal floors.

Thanks! I used 1” x .120” tube for the seat mounts. I will be adding a few gussets so I have more weld surface. I did that so I could keep the seat as low as possible with the sliders. I hope that’s strong enough.

More than sufficient for seat mounts;)

Cool...most of the Ø1" tube I stock on shelf is .065" or .083" wall, but I was thinking I should go either thicker wall or larger diameter or both, and I may depending on how low I can get my seats without cutting and lowering the floors.

The local steel yard that I use has a nice selection. My cage is now a mix of 1.75”, 1.5” and 1” all .120”

I wanted to keep my seats as low as possible without going through the floor so the seat bars are basically sitting on the floor near the rear mounting bracket.

This is how I mounted the sliders to keep them as low as possible. My wife drives mine so I had to make them adjustable.

No problem. I wanted the seats mounted to the cage so the stock holes aren’t used ;)

.083 is plenty for seat mounts. Most suspension seat frames are 5/8 or 3/4 .065.

Makes sense! I kept that in mind when I decided on he 1” x .120. I knew the frames were smaller so I went with it

4R70W is in :D. Now to build a crossmember and hang the Atlas

Did you test fit with the atlas also? You might run into body clearance issues depending how high up in the tunnel you push the trans, which will effect how you build your cross member. Also you will need to make sure that you have driveshaft clearance with the cross member. I am sure you thought of these things but just confirming before you have to redo stuff!
