9" bearing questions

Hey all,

Replacing the axle bearings on my 9". PO put on the Lincoln rear discs. It is a big bearing axle, sealed bearing with seal on the inside of the axle tube.

2 questions

1)Looks like there should be another seal on the backing plate (plate where the calipers attach to the axle) to keep debris out. Is there an inner and outer seal on this setup? PS there was not one present when I disassembled it.

2)The numbers on the bearing to that came out matches up to the lincoln application. There is a different part number for the bronco application. Are they interchangeable?

Thanks!

Bearings can fit a number of different vehicles so its hard to say what is correct or what was done by the PO. but most will interchange.
He may have used the lincoln axle retaining plate which does use a seal but only if you also have tapered bearings. With sealed bearings you dont need the outer seal.
