I don't know the situation of building the muscle cars, but I have to think there's a strict limit on how high these can go.

There are a ton of good amateur builders here on this site alone that could take a somewhat rusty frame and a clear title and build a bronco that's perfectly street legal from parts bought on the internet. Sure there's a huge time investment and principal parts cost but, as you all say, these trucks are "easy" (not for me.).

Doing the work yourself and doing a fairly decent (not ICON level obviously) job I believe could be done at less than 40k, maybe even less and the results would be quite acceptable to just about any buyer. Timetable of somewhat casual work could be as low as 18 months?

I'm picking numbers out of the air, I don't really know myself. Just making the point that at the ability level of the GOOD amateur a product could be made that would move at 50-60k easily enough. I would think that would set a ceiling on price for the every man that can't afford what classics or ICON does but still wants a good truck.

I know this post is a little old but thought I would share my thoughts. I’m about to pick up my first Bronco and did a lot of research to see what a fair price would be for a solid driver. During my research I’m trying to confirm not only the price I’m paying today but also if the future price could support selling it for a profit or breaking even. During my research I looked at pretty much every site where you can buy a classic car (Barret Jackson, Mecum, Bring a Trailer, Ebay, AutoTrader Classic, Craigslist, this site.) and found that a solid driver ranges from $25-40K. I also looked at historical pricing for Barret Jackson, Mecum and Bring a Trailer and found Bronco prices are strong and support potential future increases. I know you can find this data on Hagerty and some other sites but I am one that likes to see it with my own eyes. Below I’ve highlighted how much the average Bronco sold for (excluded Broncos that did not sell) and how many vehicles were sold looking at a location from one year to the next.

Barret Jackson
Palm Beach 2017 - $33,000 (1 sold)
Palm Beach 2018 - $55,000 (1 sold)
Northeast 2017 - $38,638 (4 sold)
Northeast 2018 - $48,538 (4 sold)
Vegas 2017 - $40,621 (7 sold)
Vegas 2018 - $52,800 (5 sold)
Scottsdale 2018 - $55,085 (13 sold)
Scottsdale 2019 $61,233 (18 sold)

Mecum
Indy 2017 - $39,000 (5 sold)
Indy 2018 - $59,950 (5 sold)
Denver 2017 - $26,500 (7 sold)
Denver 2018 - $44,413
Monterrey 2017 - $45,250 (2 sold)
Monterrey 2018 - $56,100 (4 sold)
Dallas 2017 - $31,000 (1 sold)
Dallas 2018 - $43,293 (7 sold)
Vegas 2017 - $42,250 (4 sold)
Vegas 2018 - $36,656 (9 sold)
Chicago 2017 - $32,000 (1 sold)
Chicago 2018 - $45,567 (3 sold)

Bring a Trailer
FY 2016 - $22,967 (9 sold)
FY 2017 - $17,400 (4 sold)
Q1 2018 - $58,625 (2 sold)
Q2 2018 - $43,321 (7 sold)
Q3 2018 - $37,114 (12 sold)
Q4 2018 - $36,272 (15 sold)
Q1 2019 - $38,131 (9 sold)

I know this analysis is flawed as I haven’t rated the vehicles being sold to normalize for vehicles conditions and modification but it gives you just a good overall feel of the market. Seeing prices increase in nearly all locations and seeing a good number of vehicles sold, shows the current Bronco market is very strong. It’s impossible to predict where the next 3-5 years will take prices but the signs are encouraging.

Did you find a Bronco you were happy with blaked? Need work, or did you get one basically finished?

You said "about to pick up" so I'll still congratulations and good luck in the same sentence!
Can't wait to see pics.

Yes, I found one in Michigan with a lot of help from several forum members. I put a deposit on a 72 but i will not see it in person until next weekend. Yes, i bought a Bronco without seeing it but a knowledgeable forum member lived by and looked at it for me.

Its basically finished but will need a few things to fit my taste.

Did you go with the Blue one from Flint or BlueBastards silver 72?
