Alternator wiring question

Hello,

I tried to post this question a couple times a while back but it didn't go through so I am going to try again with a new username. Hopefully it works this time!

I have finally started doing some work on my 68 Bronco. I took out the 289 engine and pretty much replaced everything. Being that I am an amateur at this I made sure to take pictures along the way. I took a picture of the alternator wiring and can tell that there were wires on the GRD, FLD, BAT, and there was one also on the one marked STA. I do not know what the one marked STA actually connected to though. Any ideas? is this wire even needed?
