The time has come for full width high pinion 44 and 9 inch. The 44 is getting a grizzly locker, rcv's, 1350 yolk. 9 inch is getting a spool, load bolt third, 35 spline axles and 5.38 gears.

This thread will mostly be used for suspension tech as I am trying to run 12" stroke triple bypasses in the rear without cutting the wheel wells and 12" coilovers on custom radius arms for the front.

The First 4 pictures are with the new axle mocked up underneath with the perches just tacked on. Also shows where the tire sits in the wheel well with RuffStuff Perches in the last hole which would be 1" back.

Then you have some pics of what it looks like with leafs removed at the current static bump, leafs are inverted and I was hitting flair/sheet metal so I stopped. You can also see how close the axle sits to the 23 gallon non body lift tank.

Here are some flex pictures, bottom of the tire is 24" from the ground when front driver tire comes off the ground. Holding the shock as high as I can on the flexed out side (passenger) I am still only able to pull about 8.5" of shaft before it would put the lower shock mount to low and make it a rock magnet.

The front just has a WH 3.5" with stock radius arms and stock shock mounts currently, will the lack of front flex hinder what I can pull in the rear? In other words, say I had long arms and longer shocks in the front could I pull more droop out of the rear? I might pull the driver front shock to see if it or the radius arm bushings are what is limiting me there.

I used the same perches when I moved my axle back. Just watch the heat input, I warped one of my tubes:-[ I think if you go long arms it will help the rear as well. looking good

Long arms should allow the front to articulate more freely, thus netting you more rear articulation through more front. The amount of flex from the rear should be about the same, but it will travel further before lifting a front tire if that's what you're using as your measurement.

When I first got my EB if had Duf 3.5" progressive front springs and some add-a-leaves in the rear...I would guess my articulation was 90/10 front/rear. I swapped out the old springs and shocks for a CAGE 3.5" long arm setup and 9-pack leaves (Betts) and now it's probably 60/40, but both articulate a lot further than before.

Worked on mocking up some shock mounts last night. Will still need to come up with something for the upper mount, fitting a hoop, keeping the shock as high as possible and getting a design that can incorporate a cross bar is tough. Here are some pics of the shock up in there. Most of these pics are at full flexed bump and some are at static bump.

Like you I didn't want to cut into the fender. I hacked up this, always meant to make it better, but it never failed and other mods keep taking my time. The 37 12.50 just touches the tubes with the full width on max articulation. I'm also running the 12" stroke

Hey RT what wheel backspace were you running? With where I have it set up now, at full droop I can swivel the shock into tapping the wheel well with the shock not tight and the free play in the uniballs. I am going to try and cheat it slightly outward, I have thought about running long wheel studs and a 1/4 spacer as well.

3 1/2" bs, 9" rim

I didn't go as far as you with the test articulation as I drive it daily so things have to be done that night or on the weekend.
I just tucked it up as tight as I could and crossed my fingers. %)

Thanks Dave it should be a different beast when it is done compared to the last time you rode in it. I still might have been carbed then lol. Mitch, Dave, and I are going for very similar builds, since we wheel together we might as well have comparable rigs.

More updates this weekend as I finish out the rear shock mounts!
