I'm interested in the Body tub kit, from Bronco graveyard part #14180
Anyone around Detroit with a jig to weld together?
Thanks.

hey karl,
You're going to have a tough time finding a jig. Most guys that buy tub kits and who have jigs are shops that are in the business of building tubs for re-sale and most likely won't lend them out. I could be wrong but those are my assumptions. Anyways, with that said do you need a jig? No, not necessarily, a jig would def make things easier but with the right measurements you can build a tub without a jig. Quite a few members including myself have done so! Here's a link to my build thread. http://classicbroncos.com/forums/showthread.php?t=249119 If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask heres a link showing a time lapse of how they build a tub that I thought helped as well. http://midlifeclassics.com/slideshows/swampthing/MobileSlideshowBODYKIT.html Also, I believe the floor pan and firewall/cowel comes prefabbed which would be in my opinion the toughest part besides hanging the doors, but having those areas already assembled will cut down on your assembly time

If you have a good straight frame and buy the firewall as one piece and the front floor pan as one piece then you should be able to bolt the floor pan down ensuring that it is straight on the frame as a good starting point, from there you add the fire wall and start working your way towards the back of the tub. This is the way that I build my new tub

Watch Matt’s garage on YouTube. He has several episodes devoted to tub assembly and lots of tips which may help you.

That being said what he has been through has cured me of any idea of welding one up myself.

Too bad you're not in Arizona, I have a pretty decent 66 half cab tub I would sell.
