Posted pictures here and there about my 1970 Bronco but I’m going to start a modification thread to capture the progress.

It’s a 1970.

Currently: Purple, 302, C4 Automatic and Power Steering. 5” lift, Pro Comp wheels / tires (35’) and a WH front roll cage.

Primarily using it in town so I’m focusing on getting it safer, more reliable and undoing some of the bad things that were done to it.

Safety wise, I’m adding power brakes, front disc brakes and rebuilding the rear brakes. Planning on reducing the lift to about 2.5” and getting the tires down to about 33 x 10.5.

Style wise, I'm trying to decide if I’m looking for a year round driver or if I build towards no top, sunny day driver. I have the doors and a hard top thats in below average condition. Not wild about the color but will address that down the road.

Reliability wise, I seem to be in decent shape but I plan on going through the engine at some point this fall and try to get ahead of the predictable points of failure.

Here are pictures of what it looked like when I bought it.

The first thing I did was remove the extra ‘stuff’ that was included with the Bronco.

This included an extra velour rear seat, plywood storage cubby, 80s center console, Piss on Chevrolet sticker, screw driver handle shift nobs, homemade speaker boxes, large driving lights, Non functional hood scoop, Alabama cassette tapes, T-shirt seat covers, and a few other non essential items.

Much better! I laughed at the 'extras'.

Nice looking truck overall, awesome find.

Just finished up installing the WH Front Disc Kit. Overall, pretty straight forward. The issues I did have were just inexperience and not reconciling the directions with the videos that I used for guidance. Thank you to those that provided online technical support!

Here are a few videos I found helpful:

Still on jack stands while I finishing installing the Power Brake Kit this weekend.

Disc brakes and power booster are installed and working. Major, Major difference. I'd say the best thing I've done in terms of increasing the overall drivability and safety. Still running the rear drums but getting ready to replace them as well.

Hopefully those hinges line up pretty easily for you. I'll be doing the same relatively soon and it seems like they can be a bit of a pain.

Finally go rid of the B&M shifter and have the column shifter back in operation. A few mishaps (all my own) along the way but not that bad of a project.

Also had it on the alignment rack. Driving well for my purposes but need to think about getting the caster back in the + zone.

Retrieved the hard top from the PO today. Definitely needs some work all the way around including paint, inside lining, window seals, and some hardware. Also have rust in the inside seals under the drip edge. the first thing I did was remove old and dated window tint. Need to decide if I invest the time and money into restoring it or just go the soft top route.

Don't invest much. I threw a lot of cash down that rabbit hole. It looks great but could have bought a few soft tops :-X

That's what I'm going to really try to manage. I actually go back and forth on just keeping it a 3 season, sunny day driver with no top and going all season, all weather.

Man, a black hard top sure looks nice with that purple, although I'm sure a black soft top would too.
