Most of you guys know I like to mess around with coating and coloring exterior parts. The biggest issue is getting coatings that will hold up. Sure you can rattle can something but it's not going to last. Ive been messing around with powder coating and cerakoting and loving the results. I just wanted to share some window trim I did this past week for a bronco brother in SC. The color is Satin Black and it looks great!

UPDATE: this was a very large project with over 60+ parts and pieces. I didn't realize how many pieces there was until it came time to package it all up! Here's a sample of some more parts!

How well does it hold up? I did some molding for my 66 Mustang painting the stainless trim black but is peeling off even with sand acid etch and epoxy paint.

It holds up well, if you follow all the steps. It cost about $60 for a pint which is up there but it lays down great. It's what they use on firearms so its very abrasion resistant, along with UV resistant.

looks great, does it go on dry like powder and get baked?

They have 3 different versions, 1 is a powder, 2 are sprays with one being an air cure and the other an oven. They all have similar properties to each other with the exception of color options.

Yeppers! I've been Cerakoting firearm components for a couple years using the oven-cured sprayed on product. Amazing stuff all right! I prefer it to powder coating hands down.

Here's a recent example. Biggest issue I have is oven size; I'm looking for one large enough to do parts up to 5' long.

Wow that looks good, it would look great on door handles and light bezels for a blackout look. ;D

Tie the Kimber to the spare tire carrier and drive it around for a year in the elements and you'll find out.

I read about the high temp version and they require prep with a certain grit blast media. Is that as important as they make it out to be?
