Thanks for the input! I'm leaning toward the Mustang corrals also. My latest thought is to flip the larger corral upside down, so that it is wider on the bottom and make it taller, sort of a pouty look like the newer "Stangs. I kind of like the slants because they match the hood and pan scoops. I've been trying to track down the cut-out pieces I removed in order to narrow the corrals so that I can make the larger corral taller and not impinge on the driving lights so much. Couldn't track them down and a vintage Cougar dealer in the area, John's Cougar Central, didn't have anything to help, so today I worked on further refining the Australian wipers. Please keep the comments comin' 'cause it's no fun being trapped in my head by myself! Howard in beautiful (and hot and muggy) west Michigan

Whew, back in the saddle! My old laptop ended up stuck in the mud, meaning really, really slow and it to took me a bit to find a new one and upgrade, but here I am! I have to start by backing up a bit. I mentioned using a Mustang grill corral and tracking down the cut-out pieces. Well, I knew there was a huge swap meet coming to Kalamazoo last week end, so I thought I'd try to track one down. Low and behold, the swap meet was also the site of the Street Rod Nationals! Acres and acres of gorgeous rods of all shapes and sizes! Didn't see a single Bronco, but I drooled plenty none the less. Here are a couple of my favorites. Maybe you can guess I was a drag buff in my teens.

Score! Found a Mustang corral! And double-score! It had busted on the vendors way to the swap meet! Bought it for $5, because it was broke and I intended to cut it up anyhow! First pic is my original Bronco/Mustang corral on top and the broke but uncut corral on the bottom. Second pic is with approximate shape of the corral if I choose that route. Third pic are the terra tires and rims I bought for $20. Maybe not a wise buy. Very heavy, I think they belong on a trencher, not a Bronco.

I'm sure you'll come up with a use for them tires Howard. Can't wait to see the grill when you're done. Ken

Do you believe in Karma? I found a set of aluminum trailer fenders for $50 at the swap meet, paid the man his money and brought the fenders back to my truck where I discovered I had picked up three, not two. Bonus was my first thought, but that isn't the type of life I want live, so I brought the bonus fender back to the vendor. Within five minutes I found the 'Stang corral sitting beside a C4 console shifter, which I also bought. I may do a T-type transfer case shifter and the 60-70's Ford C4 console shifter. Here's a fender with newly painted rims picture at my $400 Bronco trailer. Can you tell that patience is not my strong suit?

Awright, sort of a bad joke and perhaps a comment on what I did today - "What did the turkey with a speech impediment say? Cobble, cobble, cobble." Not a good joke, just like there is not a good way to cut and splice a zinc Mustang corral into a shape that maybe, just maybe, is better. If anyone knows anything about zinc, please send me the memo..... I've been using body panel epoxy with a short piece of embedded 1/4 inch steel dowel. I'll see how it looks tomorrow and try to "close the gate" on the corral. Also, I've been trying to refine the Australian wipers a bit so I can move them from the "to do" list to the "to done" list. Yeah, right, fat chance, How.

I'm not sure this is progress, maybe more in the trial and error vein, maybe time down the toilet. I got the enlarged corral "gate" closed and started playing with positioning. Lots of moving and need to be moved pieces. I'm pretty sure the expanded metal in the pic will be gone and the light openings will be repositioned. Oh, btw, saw this old Cougar rag beside the road and its mirrors caught my eye. Thoughts, sil vous plait.

I think it looks good but what if you flipped the corral so that the flat edge runs parallel to the hood ? idk, just curious to see what it would look like?

I am pretty sure that Cecjap http://classicbroncos.com/forums/showthread.php?t=275458 will be done and driving his before I even get this grill together, but I'm still plugging away! Cleaned up a few of the joints in the larger corral to a tiny notch above hacker standard and did a little pondering...….. Hmmmmmm

I've got an idea for you to explore... Instead of a grill within a grill do some smoothing and only have the inner Corral.

I think it just might work, although I kinda feel a bit like Edison when/if he said, "I now know 10,000 ways to not make a light bulb." Also, I placed an order for what I think will be some way cool rear view mirrors. Quality Sheet Metal said the parking/blinker light pockets for the front roll pan will be done tomorrow. Went through the Racing Bronco Pics thread here yesterday and saw a few possible solutions for a front bumper or brush guard kinda thing-a-ma-bob.

Lots o fun today! Two steps forward and twelve steps back, but it could have been worse! Should have listened to Sprv1 a while back when trimming the Bronc grill for the Mustang corral. Cut too much away, had to fabricate new. Went great (well, good enuff) but spent a lot of the day getting to where I had already been. I did pick up the blinker pockets for the roll pan, turned out nice enough, can't wait to cut them in. Sprdv1, don't be shy about holding me back a bit..... Gonna order new clear lenses some day when I get a round toit. Last pic is just me braggin' 'bout my bride and my boy.
