I cut off the factory sensor right at the brass part that is in the heater tube. Basiclly pluging it up> Then drilled and tapped the thermostat housing and mounted my water temp gauge. I used another hole on the driver side of the intake for the ECT sensor. Hope this helps.

Yeah - that reservoir does not look very pump friendly at all, have any troubles burning up pumps? If not, I'm guessing the pump is stock and not all that demanding...

Whats not friendly about it? It has a 11/16 hose that feeds the pump.

It's the distance that matters. I'm going to guess you are running a stock pump as I ran an even larger reservoir on my fender and the pump didn't last a weekend - just too much demand. Granted you are running roughly a 10% larger hose, I still don't think that would be enough -

I'm only speaking from experience - your results may vary.

More like an ear - if you run good fluid in it you should be fine. I didn't want to cut a hole in the hood, but that was the only way to feed that P pump I was running. The Explorer setup I'm running now is so-so, it's working decently, but not a good as I would like.

I finally found time to clean up my engine bay so I can add my EFI pic to this thread.

The first pic is the "old"..................back when I had a great running carbed motor that loved to vapor lock and the accessory belts squealed like a raped pig.

The second is the "new" which is a 5.0 out of a 98 Explorer. It hasn't vapor locked even when running without a fan shroud in 100 plus degree weather.

When in doubt...................kick that carb out !

I'll play along. Still have to fit sparkplug wires & retorque header bolts but it's pretty much done.
