I have an HEI distributor and it cleared just fine before I put on my 1" body lift.

I don't know, I've looked at lots of pics of cowls, I'm thinking maybe it's the replacement cowl from JBG or similar just has a bigger cutout? Hoping I'm just worrying too much

The hei cleans up the underhood wiring and is more water tight. Back when I was researching guys were talking about module failure with the duraspark set ups. I think they have a more reliable cure for it now. I've been running the dui hei's for 19 years. I just had to replace the module in the 66. Other than that they've run flawless.

Hi Steve I was just reading a handful of old threads back to 2006 (to which you also contributed) on the HEI and think I'll keep it, appreciate the info.

I gotta say this forum weighs so heavily on every decision I make, it's scary sometimes. I'm on it almost as much as my wife is on FB, but she don't get it?!?

Not sure which hei you have. The cheap pro comp ones were giving some guys issues and others were fine. I run the dui units and they've been great.

Here is n across the fender shot.........

of mine. It is almost dead level with the fenders and I don't even have room for a chrome wing nut. So, to answer your question.........It will not work.

The dui's have rheir name on the coil cap and ignition module. Not sure how to identify the others. If it helps any for the air cleaner I'm running an edelbrock elite triangle version. That's sitting on top of a 351w with an offy manifold and a q-jet. I also have a 2"b/l on the 72 that's getting a stock hood.

I think it’s close enough to try a 1” BL, would rather not go 2”

Thanks for the hood Tom!!

1" is still going to be tight. A 2" lift has a lot more complications with fan shrouds, steering shafts, etc. Hoping a 1" does it for you.
