Not quite. It's the "earliest known Bronco" but not the "first." I think there is consensus on this but I'll say on my own that IMO it's mostly likely a pre-production rig, one of very many, with a special VIN. Typically Mfrs. do not produce vehicle with VINs that end in zeros, they start with "001" for the production rigs.

Fantastic that it's finally emerged, however.

Very much agree, it has too many quirks that exceed even the quirks of a "normal" 66'. And seriously, what does the frame Vin look like, and are they in the normal locations?

I wanted to start this thread just to update and get pictures of some of the earliest bronco built and include pics of at least the first 20 in order and then hear some of the stories and see other pics of the ones we know of. I will save the first two post for pics of the first few and update the order as new ones are discovered. Lets see some of your other early 66s too!
Im going off of the thread started by lwlbcnu http://classicbroncos.com/forums/showthread.php?t=139817 (great work) and trying to make an updated version with pics. Feel free to post up more recent/better pics or let me know if I cause any offense by reusing their pictures and I will update my post. Also let me know of any errors aswell

1. 732000 The "Shelby Bronco" Red halfcab Toddz supplied the vin sketch. No pictures

Any U132 or U142 or U152 in the group???

Just curious if any of the earliest trucks have heavy duty package?

What a find! I'd leave it and do a preservation restoration.

...OR if you're doing a full resto, PM me, I have almost the exact same '66 U13 that has had one respray, and I'm looking for one in it's original paint. Maybe a trade.

732205 showed up for a visit at my parents' house this morning. 66 U13 rangoon roadster in very original condition. 40K original miles. Some rust on the leading edge of the hood but otherwise very solid. Engine purrs like a sewing machine. Owner purchased it for 5K from the previous owner last year.

I had to go back and check the color code - it's J so I guess that's Rangoon Red....maybe faded?? Front seats need to be reupholstered (they're under covers). Rear is supposedly mint and it's under a cover too.

I was just giving you a hard time for not posting any pics of it lol, I'm sure it's rangoon. :) I found pics elsewhere though :)

I wonder if they did the Broncos the way the did the Mustangs ?

Where they were revealed on the same day at every dealership ?

Which meant that all the early mustangs were shipped to far away dealerships

The earliest mustangs are always found in remote Canadian areas since shipping them by rail ferry and truck took weeks .
