If our old broncos could talk, imagine the stories they could share......

Adventure Bronco is the name my kids gave my old Bronco as it took us on a trip across the country seeing America three years ago, a journey that I will always remember. This thread will be about the journey of getting my old Bronco ready for some more adventures. I will also include some information about my M416 military trailer that I occasionally tow behind the bronco. I will share more later as I am at work now. photo-7.jpg

Look forward to it. Did you post a thread on the trip with the kids? This is what I want to do with my little guys. Scaling down my monstrous trailer after I get the Bronco done. Look forward to the trailer pics!

My trip across the country three years ago prompted me to want to change a few things as I traveled from sea level to 12,800 ft. in the same 8,000+ mile journey. EFI seemed like a logical way to go because of the elevation changes encountered plus I just could never get my Holley 670 TA dialed to run right. I have run V belts for years with adapters for my 351W, but the 3G alt. belt always had to be tighter than all get out to avoid squealing. At the MEB Roundup in Gore, VA I was intrigued by the Explorer Serpentine setups that I saw in a couple of Broncos, so I decided to go that route. I have been collecting parts for the last three years, but just recently have started the updates and conversion process as I was slowed down in working on my Bronco because of some surgeries and a few other "life curves" that came up. My son was a big help in removal of the old NW Metal Products 23 gal rear tank that I purchased from K Bar S (Wow, I have owned my Bronco a long time). I am now committed to the EFI swap and Explorer Serpentine set up as I have sold off my BCB 3G alternator and Edlebrock intake manifold to help finance things.

Recently I installed a 351W Lightening lower intake and am mocking up fuel rails from an Explorer to see if anything interferes. Here are some pics of the old as well as some recent progress. Tonight, more work on removing the old fuel lines and possible removal of the NWMP 12 gal front tank as I want make a skid plate for it since it is rock rashed pretty good. I know some remove the front tank altogether, but having 35 gallon fuel capacity in the Bronco, plus a gas can on the trailer has been a necessity for some of my trips. photo-1.jpg

Since I am on a break from work and can't work on my Bronco at this moment I thought I would post a few pics from the Oregon-East Coast-back to Oregon cross country trip. See if you can guess the locations.......(some help will be given). Have fun! K7A1384B3BC20A_1000128.jpg

Well for a few guesses, I see in the very first picture in the thread you must be just above Animas Forks (the picture in front of the mine).

As for the first picture in the post from today I'd swear you are in Carson, Colorado.

I love that whole area!

You are all correct so far! Carson and Animas Forks in Colorado and Crater Lake in Oregon. In response to MEB for 2013, you never know. :)

Life has been far from dull these last several months. I finally got a chance to work on the bronco and today installed the BC Broncos EFI tank that I bought a few years ago (the one before the AN fittings). When I did a trial fit, I discovered that I had to grind off the remnants of an old trailer hitch that was welded to the frame. The blue tape in the picture was my guide from the trial fit on how high I could mount the tank without running out of mounting tab room for the skid plate. I took off the rear bumper to make access easier for tightening the bolts that go through the frame. Several weeks ago I had the tank flushed out where some welding debris and styrofoam came out. Shipping wasn't kind and I painted over any areas where needed. So much for the prep, the install was fairly straight forward. Next up will be the installation of the fill hoses and the skid plate. photo-5.jpg
