Took a day off work and wire brushed and scraped it all day, did a final wash. Should be ready for paint tomorrow, think I may take a half day ;)

Looks like you might need to work on them body mount holes before you paint it. Seems like them rubber mount bushings do a number on the frame. Here are a couple of before and after pics of what mine looked like.

I'm letting the guy doing all the metalwork do the mounts, that way if it don't line up he can only blame himself. Nice work! Are you around Cincy?

duhh nevermind that would be SouthWEST Ohio

I see you addressed the frame to body mounts in a different thread. I live between Jackson and Athens. Ken

What's left of the old rear bump stops...1 bolt did come out in one piece, so that's a bonus!

Off she goes to the blaster, hoping it's still in one piece when done.

Didn't make the 4th of July target date but things are finally progressing.

That POR is some serious stuff. When done per instructions, it does work and it looks good. It is a pain to do but you'll be glad you did. I done a 69 Camaro back in 99 and it still looks good. Keep up the good work, it's going to be nice when your done.

Coat #2, now baking in my warm garage.

Tried to avoid skin contact, but well I just get after it and get it done and so I had plenty on my forearms, elbows, legs even on my face. I read in another post that WD-40 would clean it off, good tip worked well but only if you get it right away.

Bar of Lava soap worked well so long as it was big enough to double as a scraper, if that makes sense.

In the end, used a washrag and Fast Orange, did the trick.

Tomorrow: DRIVETRAIN

Not as much progress as I had hoped, but progress nonetheless.

Discovered the boy's brakes were crapping out, spent some time on that, a little more time on my 170 timing chain looking a little slack, then discovered one can was only enough for one coat. Primer is like a sponge!! Will get another can tomorrow, then probably paint the trans/transfer case black.

More progress today, I love holiday weekends! I was supposed to work today but it was pretty much optional, and since I didn't reach my goals yesterday, well you know the rest.

Got the second coat of Ford Blue on, coat of semi gloss engine paint on the trans and transfer case, oil pan reinstalled which was much easier than it would have been with the body on I'm sure.

I masked off the VINs when applying the POR 15, then decided to coat with Ford Blue, I think it looks cool (looks like blue painters tape in the pic) so my future grandson will not have to look too hard for a VIN when he registers it in 2047 ;)
