It's a cool piece, but I find their esimate to be a bit far fetched considering it's actual provenance.

I hope they get it! :)

The Holman Moody association does add value...my 1972 Donzi 16 is an "all H &M boat" and so is my 1972 Champ. The former...a 302...the latter, originally a 427 side oiler is now a 428 with the 427 heads and all the amazing H&M add-ons attached again.. I could part both out for just the vintage H&M hardware for crazy money. The watercoooled H&M dual-filter oil assembly for the 427 brings over 5 grand alone...

Yes, I agree it adds some value. Sounds like your boats got some great mods to the motors - this Bronco has a Stroppe rollbar, steering wheel and flares.

the original Ford VIN was removed and replaced with Holman & Moody serial number HM9028 S

If the VIN was removed by HMS how do we know it is U15GLD84112 ?!?

I am going to assume that the VIN was not removed, but the warranty tag in the glovebox was...?

OK, I am sure Mr. Comer is thinking I am picking on him, but I am not...
Just asking questions.

the vehicle was given an orange paint finish that would not otherwise be seen until the 1971 introduction of Ford’s Baja Bronco

So you are saying that this was a new color, but it was not. It was called Poppy Red
in 1966 and 1967, Calypso Coral in 1969 and 1971-1972, and Coral from 1974-1977.
Very odd that they ordered it white then painted it a stock color... Or did they?
All of the older pics I have seen it looks actual red to me, not orange (poppy, etc).
Thoughts?

Yeah, I always remembered this truck being red, not orange. I've know the truck since around 1996. Some of my Arizona buddies have known of it and it's history since the late 80s.

Does anyone have info on this one? There’s the Holman moody cp stickers on even the fan shroud. Is it all aftermarket or? What a beautiful engine bay.

Looks like someone spent some $$ for some repo Holman Moody stickers and a pair of valve covers.

Andrew (bajabronco) probably knows the truck.

This was in MSN today:

https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/cla...-the-auction-block/ar-BBM4hwM?ocid=spartandhp

Epic 1969 Ford Bronco Test Vehicle to Cross the Auction Block

Pre-auction hype. I just read through the listing again. As others have noted, the truck was painted red, not the color shown in the pictures (House wisely detailed the lineage of that color in his post). And the truck was not "discovered" in 2016.

That said - it is a beautiful build and a stunning vehicle. Hats off to Colin Comer for a great rig.

Yes, thats a Bronco I found in Missouri in 2005 I think. I see the stickers now too! Cool.

I believe you can buy those decals and such. If I remember correctly the valve covers were "NOS" according to the current owner.

It had M/T valve covers when I owned it. As for what it had originally...?

It's beautifully restored.

Nice article by Colin here. I like that we learn where the choice of the current color came from and the suppositions on things like the 'S' part of the HMS VIN meaning Stroppe and the $1 sale deal. Can't say they're a sure thing, but it makes sense.

Only item I note as an error of sorts is the mention of power steering as an add-on from the same era as the roll bar and Stroppe steering wheel. It's a stock EB unit so it obviously came later.

Great article, agreed. Sure is a sharp looking truck too.

I too hope some light as to it's life at HMS or H-M pops up.

Side note I believe the Boss Bronco was believed to have Stroppe PS too when in fact it has a later added Ford Bronco PS box.
