How hard can it be to mount these up front? Won’t know unless I try!

Front seats went in without too much fuss. The were modified to sit on the original hardware and only sit an inch higher than stock. I put a write up in ‘tech’ with the details.

Now on to my the back seats.

These are from the back of an F-150. The idea is to pull the material and foam off these and fit them to my TBP flip and tumble frames. This is going to be a bigger challenge but it will be sweet if I can pull it off!

Yeah I'm sure that is pretty monotonous... but whatever it takes..

The side panels have been easier since they have had less sun exposure. They have come up best using a little heat a razor to carefully pull up an edge and working slow. The adhesive left behind comes off with hand sanitizer and a little scrubbing with a microfiber cloth. Goof off is too strong and will ruin the underlying orange stripe.

The hood stripes are baked on pretty good. I’ve found putting a film of hand sanitizer over the pinstripe that I’m working off with a razor works well. But it is slow and careful work. The hand sanitizer again is used for left over adhesive clean up.

The original plan was to use the entire flip and fold frame but after seeing the F150 seat pan and back rest frame I think I’ll just rip the brackets off the old frame and tack them on the Ford frame. It’ll make the foam and leather mods tons easier.

Here is the modified frame using the narrowed F-150 rear seat and brackets from the TBP seats. By the way, this morning was the first time I’ve ever really tried to weld. I rented a Lincoln 120v wire feed to do the work. By the end of the morning my welds were still mostly lumpy and ugly. But I think they will do the job.

I toyed with the idea of a little tiki head, vintage surfer trophy top, or a chrome alligator. Still have holes.

I took the seats to a local upholstery shop and they wouldn’t touch them. So I decided to do it myself. Progressing nicely, maybe not professionally.

This panel had a bad stain on it so I cut it out and replaced it with material from the arm rest.

I needed to remove panels from the material to fit the narrowed seat frame.

Not too bad.

Dang, you’ve got some skills - both cleaning and fabricating. Nicely done!

You might as well weld up the hood holes too. You blended in the quarter panel you can do the hood too. Whatever it would look better than the holes.

The seats are in. The last step will be getting some castano leather dye to get them to match the front seats a bit better.

The quarter panel blend is okay from 5 foot away but the original Wind Blue is noticeably darker if you get closer. It would be better if I could get a color just a bit lighter. I need to stop by an auto paint supplier and have them actually sample the color around the hood area. I’m up for fixing the holes if I can get that match.
