Need wire or Need wire?

I need some primary wire and the local parts store is of no help (I wanted to reach over the counter for this idiot).
I need longer than they have and shorter than what I can get through Waytek.
Anyone know of good sources where I can get wire of different sizes (14 ga.-10 ga.) and colors by the 25' spool?

Try Home depot in the electrical section.
Ask for #14 #10 Stranded THHN (whatever size you need)
wire guage is the same, the strands may not be as thin as what you would get from the auto places but the size will be correct.

No offense Rev. but I really don't want to do it that way.
Plus they don't have all the colors I need.
I will have 9 conductors going to the rear of the truck to accomodate trailer w/ brakes, fuel sender and spare (electric fuel pump/aux).

THHN and DC voltage don't work very well, IME. Stick with primary wire.

Home Depot was selling some small quantities of it, and had lengths on the big wire rack.

O-Reilly's has it in the back, that they'll sell by the foot.

I've been there. I think I need to ask the old fart in charge as opposed to the dipwad at the counter.

Otherwise... anyone need sone wire? If I cannot find what I need locally, I'll have to order by the 100' roll. I only need about a quarter of that, but could use half of it in other areas.
If anyone needs something, wirewise, let me know quickly.

This expense is digging into my weapon money (got the go-ahead on a rifle) .

I get a lot of my electrical stuff from http://www.delcity.net/ . I don't remember if the spools are as short as 25", but they do carry the hi-temp rated automotive wire. I just bit the bullet and bought the 100' spools. I've used them several times since my original project.

Delcity is pretty much the same as Waytek and I have an account at Waytek.
I priced it out ... not too bad but still perterbed that I will have to buy twice the wire I need if not more. I agree with you 70_Steve. I will probably use most, if not all, eventually, and at half the price of Vato-zone.
I guess whatever I have left over will go towards the next project...home built off-road camper trailer.
By the way. Anyone know how the trickle charger works on those things? This is why I'm trying to wire the ass end of my truck so beefy. The auxilery wire will go for back up lights on the trailer. I will include trailer brakes. The break-away battery will be a deep cycle battery to primarily power the trailer lights, water pump, etc.

By the way, I just ordered a whole bunch of circuit breakers and relays to get busy on the wiring project. Now I just need Alex Brown to get his arse moved into his house and drag him over here to motivate me.

I was going to go with the cordura switches but later decided to go with standard toggles as there are more options.
I did find a cool weather resistant box to use as the relay box, which will mount in the engine compartment. Found it at Radio Shack, go figure. For those looking for something similar... GO TO RADIO SHACK. these boxes are only a few dollars and should work perfectly.

I like quick cable wire, especially their spx stuff, but you wont get it under 100 foot rolls. Might try a big truck stop and ask for tralier wire, you can get it 1-8, 2-10, 2-12, 2-14 guage wires bundled in one jacket. It comes in different sized groups of wire sizes than the one I illiustrated.

I just went ahead and ordered the wire in 100' spools. Came out to about $145. Not bad considering any of the prepackaged wire @ the local retard shop run $10 each. I should still come in at a lesser price and have gobs of left over for future upgrades or projects.

I guess I do need to finish the bronco before I store another gun in the safe.

Thanks for the ideas guys.

RV Centers or some parts houses ( not the chains except maybe NAPA) carry a 7 wire cable for RVs all sheathed in a tough outer skin.
1-12 ga blue
2-10ga black and white
4-14ga red, brown,yellow and green
This would get most of it in a nice package and sells by the foot. My 05 book says $1.20/ft

It's OK to give out, but NEVER give up.
