I figured I would post some progress pics of my 14 bolt. Just need to finish the brake lines and shock mounts. The truss is from WFO, 5 lug hubs are from rockcrusher and used ford rotors and redrilled gm 1 ton brake brackets- worked out good. The shave kit is from ballistic fab which comes with the cover. Can't wait to test it out.

What front end are you planning to run with it, D60 with 5 lug outers?

The shave job is cool, when I did mine I just bought a 3/8 cover and did the rest myself. I didn't know anyone was making a "kit" to do it.

To me it seems like a lot of work if you are planning on staying 5 lug. Even with myself having a 14 bolt, the shaved 9" would have been my choice if I was going to stay 5 lug. Build it with 40 spline shafts and a Nodular housing and it would have saved a bunch of weight and would have been just as strong if not stronger.

The kit does look real nice and you'll love it when you get it done!

Thats really cool... never seen a 5 lug 14B. Did u narrow it, ot is is full width?

Its full width which at 67 wms and the hubs bring it down to 65 wms due their offset- this is the way the aftermarket guys all machine them. Solid axle also makes these hubs. I had to turn down the outer axle flange to 4.2 so the rim fits over it also.

David,
Im running the prorock 5 lug KP 60 in the front I just finished in the front. I always liked running the 14b and the shave kit from ballistic (we do some work with them) gave me the chance to get the ground clearance I wanted. I am a big fan of the full floater. It is a little heavy for sure but I want to try and make it work with the 5 lug set up. Since my 78 f150 I had 15 years ago that the axle seals leaked all the time and all the other issues i had with the rear I never was a big fan of the 9in. It would be a much lighterset up though for sure.

Just wondering, I kinda had a feeling you were going to match it up with a 60 upfront. I didn't pay attention to your sig. line when I read it the first time. Should be fun!

I'd like to see a pic of it with the carrier and ring gear in it.. Thats pretty cool

Thats the only pic I didnt take. I machined the ring gear taking .3 off of it and it fits snugly in the bottom plate. Ballistic may have some pics on their sight.

Looking forward to the air locker in the rear also. Rausch Creek on the 23rd will be the test run.

I wouldn't mind a air locker in the rear, I don't drive mine on the street enough to worry about the tire scrub of being welded. With the 14 bolt you can weld the spiders to the case and make it just as strong as a full spool would be. For driving on the street an ARB would be nice!

I have been running the limited slip so im looking forward to the locker in the rear. i was worried about the road manners and chewing the crawlers up so I sprung for the air locker- I wasnt easy though- welding them up a much cheaper.

How do you like the pit bull rockers so far? Are they getting chewed up at all?

The Rockers have been great. They are chewed up less than Jamey's Iroks are and we have went wheeling the same amount of time and all but one time we were in the same exact place on the same trails.

I sprung for the ARB up front, I couldn't swing it in the rear too. So we did it the cheap way!

We actually had great luck with the saw-zall. Both of our cuts were straight enough to weld the bottom plate to with out issue. When it come time for the cover I just Ballistic Fabs cover then cut and plated to match my rear. The I had the sealing surface machined flat. After I abuse the crap out of it, it will start to drip here from being pulled apart. The only thing I have every used was black RTV, I'm going to use "The Right Stuff" next time and shouldn't have any leaks. We had to chisel of Gordon Bailies at OCBR when he broke his Detroit.

Let us know how it seals up after a couple of runs.
