Figured I would post up a thread on my conversion to coilovers. I found Trail Gear has a universal Air Shock Hoop Kit which is 1 3/4 DOM .120 wall for 100 bucks- Good for us without benders at home. I am poking the tops of the bends through the wheel wells to make it easier to run the cross brace. I am using Ballistic D60 lower brackets that mount to the knuckle along with 14 travel Rock Krawler 2 5/8 coilovers. More to come.

Here are a few close ups of the hoops. Sorry about the blurry one.

Also finished up all the welding on the cross brace and lower mounts. Now just need some coil overs.

Dave, what's the plan for the stinger rear tire carrier? Fold down or swing out?

I am thinking of doing a swing out like the genright one. I started bending the tube last night and I am having a problem crushing the tube. My follow bar is a new style and the die is older- I think its to far away from the die. Might have to bite the bullet and buy the new die.

shocks

shocks and springs are here- Thanks Ken!. Shocks are nice and light- 1in shafts are real cool. Springs are eibach 200/300 both 14 long- its a soft starting point since I really want to loosen up the front end. Hopefully the weather clears up and I can get them in the truck

Parts list

Here is the parts list:

Trail Gear universal hoops- http://www.polyperformance.com/shop/Trail-Gear-Universal-Air-Shock-Hoop-Mounting-Kit-p-26828.html

2-universal shock mounts 1 1/4 width 1.75 tube- http://www.polyperformance.com/shop...niversal-Shock-Mount-Parallel-Bolt-p-670.html

4- tube flanges 1.75 tube- http://www.polyperformance.com/shop/Synergy-Suspension-Tube-Flange-p-236.html

2 feet 1.75 1.20 wall tube to make frame mounts

4- gussets

2- Ballistic fab lower shock mounts for D60- http://www.ballisticfabrication.com/Dana-60-kingpin-Coil-over-Shock-mountsgussets_p_1154.html They make D44 ones also

4- 1/2 grade shock mounting hardware

2- Rock Krawler 2 5/8 racing shocks 14 travel- http://rockkrawler.com/index.php?r_intro=no

2- eibach 14/3.0/200 + 2 14/3.0/300 springs - http://www.polyperformance.com/shop/Eibach-14-Long-3.0-ID-Coil-Springs-p-112.html

2- Rock Krawler adjustable bump stops

2- Limiting straps 18" long

Without the shocks and springs total cost is under 200 bucks for all the shock mounting. I did need to bend the cross bar with a tubing bender and used a tube notcher for all the notches but it can be done with a grinder and some patients. I have a 2in body lift along with the cowl hood giving me lots of room to run the cross brace- an option for those not wanting as much travel is brackets like these- http://www.polyperformance.com/shop...-Budget-Front-Shock-Mount-Bracket-p-2565.html or similar ones that will aloow you to keep everything in the wheel well and not need a cross brace.
