4 Door Bronco Project

Hey guys,

Years ago I had a '66 that got me addicted to these awesome trucks, I ended up selling it to pay for a college commuter car and engagement ring for my then girlfriend and now wife.

Fast forward 6 years and I was finally in a position to start looking for another... and I think the wife was getting tired of me spending my evenings lurking on the site and whining I had nothing in the garage to work on ;D

I posted in a 4 door Bronco thread a few weeks ago, and said I would start a build thread eventually. So here goes my attempt at a build thread :p It will be a work in progress, just like the Bronco.

I bought Broncow72's 4 door project back in May, and have been finishing things up trying to get to the paint and bed liner stage and ready for Texas inspection. The main thing I have learned is I dread body work, actually the body work isn't too bad, it's all the damn sanding.

I'm about to the point where I'll be asking a lot of questions of all you experts on here ;)

I updated my garage with some of the technical details, and I will add more stuff here as I go along.

I know we all love pics, so I'll dump a bunch here.

If y'all want to see anything specific, let me know.

Crap, the photos aren't uploading from my iPad, I'll try again through Tapatalk

Glad to see this one is moving forward again. I had always wondered what happened with that Bronco since I hadn't seen or heard anything about it since Broncow left Socal. Good luck with the project....gonna be a sweet one!

Thanks for the compliments guys! It's been fun getting to work on one again, I have already found so much useful information lurking over the past few years, I am glad I can finally participate! I can't wait to get it legally on the road and out to some events and of course trails :)

looks good try a heat gun on that bed liner. Get it real hot then scrape it off with a stiff gasket scraper or putty knife.

Thanks beaux312, I had tried heat before but it just made a gooey mess and i had written that method off, but, the combination of GooGone, heat, and a good scraper worked great! Got the floor boards cleaned and primed this past Sunday, now I need to get some seam sealer and get it ready for new bedliner.

And my new to me handbrake was delivered. It's out of a 2004 Jeep TJ... now I need to figure out where to mount it and how I am going to make it work on the underside, haha.

Hey Broncman, I'm using a similar break leaver. If you can measure the length cable you need from drum to that equalizer, you can start looking on Advance Auto at the 80' model F100 pickups. Most show the length and you can match some up that way. They are not metal clad, but their under $20 each??? I only did a 10" stretch, used a part # C93343, sku #3931889, hope that helps. Good Luck!!;D;D

Thanks for all the compliments guys! Worked on e-brake stuff this afternoon. Fabricated some mounts out of angle iron and got those welded onto the cage. Then started working on the underside, got my equalizer mount ready to weld on for the rear cables, need a bigger drill bit to drill the holes before I weld it on. I am planning to use a combination of the original e-brake parts that came with the Bronco when I bought it and the adjuster that came with the jeep handbrake. I plan to shorten the cable in the last pic and use it between the adjuster and the handle. NGA, thanks for the tip, if I can't get the parts I have to work, I will definitely check them out.
