It has finally happened: The uncut and mostly unused '76 EB I found over a year ago has been sold- to me. ;D
It seems to be in pretty decent condition, mostly because it was stored for the last 28 years, and thankfully it was in a climate controlled facility. I got it home today and gave it a quickie wash job- winter has again returned to Virginia so I didn't play in the water too long! This old truck probably hasn't seen water in at least 25 years so I hope it hasn't rusted to pieces by tomorrow morning when I get back to it!
In the pics you'll see what's left of the original sales sticker in the LH quarter window. A friend stopped by moments ago and we found another piece of the sticker in the floor under the seat. This truck sold new for $6,500.85. The tires you see in the pictures are the original belted whitewall tires, still on it since its born date.
Most of the following pictures were taken after the quick wash I gave it today, a few others were taken after we loaded it on the trailer.
Your comments are welcome and appreciated.
I will be posting more pics of my progress while getting this rig back up to speed. There are numerous things that I want to do (and that should be done) before I put in a battery and turn the key.

I have learned that this rig has what Ford called the "Special Decor Group" for the Bronco in 1976. This group consisted of blacked-out grille, color keyed hood and body-side tape stripes, bright windshield moldings and window frames, and bright wheel covers. Who knows where in the heck the wheel covers are now.

WOW. Very nice! Get back to it tomorrow morning??? You mean you're not going to sleep in it tonight?

Congrats and keep the pictures coming. I love to see how they originally came (but wouldn't blame you for the modification thoughts rambling through your head).

OK I am totally jealous!

But...you never let us know what the total damage was!

YOu need to submit a tech article & measure that puppy from one end to another! Every dimension anyone might think of when they do a tear down.....or when I start building custom tubs!!!!

You rock!!!

MnkyBiz, since I haven't yet done the desperately needed door post replacement on the '74 EB, I can't imagine all the measurements one might need. You're more than welcome to come on down to Roanoke with your tape measure and/or laser tape and have at it! (Hey why not bring your door post replacement expertise too!) Or, if you can specifically describe which dimensions you're after I'll give it shot.

bach44146, that's Bedford, right? I suppose I'll pass up the opportunity to sleep in it. As tempting as it may seem, that rig just doesn't give off enough body heat!

2bad, the Bronco was purchased by a shopping center to use solely as a plow truck to push show off a wide sidewalk (they had a dump truck with a 10' blade for the parking lot). Some years ago the plow thingy was taken to another shopping center in MD owned by the same folks to replace a broken one on another truck. It was never brought back, and thus this Bronco wasn't used as a plowboy anymore. It sat in a storage bay in the shopping center which was where I found it.

Here's the pic of the scan of what's left of the window sticker I found in the floor.

After reading through the original thread, I'd love to know what your original offer was and what you ended up picking it up for. Awesome rig. I'm usually pretty skeptical about low mileage classic cars since everyone and their mother here in Cali have a '65 mustang with 3,000 original miles on it in the classifieds. But this one certainly sounds like the real deal. Awesome find.

very cool.
you are right, ford didn't intend for these to be around with the crappy paint jobs they had and minimal if any undercoat/ seam sealer. i feel the broncos where the pinto of the truck line for them. i love em,don't get me wrong.
keep us updated on what develpos with it. you definelty scored on that find. lucky guy. i think you found the needle in the haystack.enjoy!
be good

Holy crap. Is that everyone's dream? To find one in that condition. But I'd probably be scared to do anything with it. At least for a while. ;D

WOW. That thing is amazing. Ive never seen or even heard one quite like that. I was wondering earlier tonight....Since it is such a rarity to find one like this with mileage like that and in that shape what are your plans for it aside from just getting it going again???

Holy Sheep S@*t!! I can't believe that thing. I wonder if there is anything like it anywhere? I too would like to know what "ball park" a person would have to pay for one like that (as if anyone would ever find one again). %)

69,

You may have a deal on me coming down to help/measure!!!!!

I think that either this spring or summer, I'll try to get down to Roanoke (about 5hrs from me, I think).

Before then, I think I'll start a thread & get concensus on all the areas people think that there may need to be measurements of!

AGain, you are one lucky guy!!!

Bill
