Spot the EB!

Ok -- I'm leaving Rockwall at 5:00 a.m. Sunday morning with 19 High School wrestlers -- headin' for Estes Park, Colorado for a Team Wrestling Camp. I've told the boys we're going to play a game along the way -- "Spot the Early Bronco". Anyone who spots a 66-77 model gets an extra ride on the Alpine Slide when we go back thru Breckenridge (what they don't know is they already get unlimited rides! ) -- And anytime they call a Scout or J**P a Bronco, they owe me 50 mountain climbers! So I'm thinking I accomplish a couple of things. First, I get the kids helping me look for cool rides and Second, I get a whole new bunch of kids interested in our rides. They already dig my '74 and the new '76 I got for baja. Ain't I brilliant!

So if you see 2 vans loaded with extremely "fit", but really immature high school boys -- give me a shout out and feel very, very sorry for me! We'll be lookin' for your rides as we make our way West!

You can follow our trip here:

Nick -- it hasn't been THAT long since you were 16! If they have signs sayin' "show me"..it won't be an EB they'll be lookin' to see! Keep your daughter's off the streets between Rockwall and Estes Park because I've got 2 van loads of ragin' testoterone!

My daughter and I have been playing that for a few years now and we call our game "A.E.B.I.C." (an early bronco I see). It started about 6 years ago with "slug bug" (vw bug) and then moved to "oldies" (vintage or classics), "coppers" (law enforcement) and "heeps" (self explanitory ) and now it is "A.E.B.I.C."

She has a pretty good education of cars and trucks going now for a 10 year old. and she can sure spot them we have added "cut"(modified) vs "uncut" (stocker) to our game now

Me= 167 freshman
185 sophomore, junior, & senior
heavyweight in college
Great thing wrestling, taught me a lot mentally that I still use 20 years later, physically (don't ask) !

We did "cruser bruser" one time and she didn't like that one. I know that this will stick with her for life cause when she goes with other people they tell me how she spotted a police car or counted 12 vws while they were going some where.

A.E.B.I.C. -- That's GREAT!

Me = 210 Freshman,
240 Senior
180 lb PFC graduate of Parris Island!
25 yrs later - closer to Senior than PFC! :'(

Wrestling is a terrific sport, and what a great metaphor for life! They didn't have it where I grew up, only football - which ain't bad, but it doesn't compare in terms of life skill preparation!

Any Oklahoma boys out there? They come out of the womb wearing singlets!! And if you're from OK (or happen to watch the Olympics), you'll know Kendall Cross -- he's a pal, and will be joining me next week..Should be a blast (no parents allowed!)

Well, we're back - we saw a grand total of 5 EB's in 6 days and 2,000 miles of traveling - sort of disapointing - but here's the weird part -- we saw 4 of those in Kremmling, CO! A very small little town, just W. of Grand Lake. I even tried going by the Bronco Hut in Franktown on the drive up on Sunday (we took 83 out of Colorado Springs because of a wreck on 25, and because I wanted to swing by my old place in Parker), but couldn't find it! I thought it was on Hwy 83??... So it seems like Kremmling has the highest Bronco-to-Driver ratio of any town between TX and CO! I guess I should add Kremmling to my list of potential retirement locations! Here's my boys in Estes Park, after thumpin' teams from Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado and Lousiana!

I play "tow truck tickle" "punchbug" "punch PT Crusier" and Pinch Jeep" with my 7 yr old. punchbug counts double if its an old one or a convertable, so you get 4 punches if its an old convertable.
