Corbeau Seat bracket installation problems

Did a search, and no one seems to have this issue. Maybe I have defective parts? dunno...

My driver's side seat bracket fits all the stock holes. The only issue is, the rear right (furthest from the driver door) side is so close to the slider, that a bolt won't fit. Pics are below. Anyone have this issue and/or a fix for it?

Thought about taking the slider apart, putting the bolt in and reinstalling, but that poses two problems... It will henceforth be a complete bitch to get that bolt out to remove the seat, and if I have to take the sliders off, I'm not sure what tool I will need to get the nut out of the channel, but none of the tools I have will fit.

On top of that, The "bolt in" passenger side is not anywhere near bolt in. I have to drill ALL the holes in the seat bracket. But, the front door side leg is too short. Also, in order to line up the back of the frame to bolt it into the floor, I can't use the stock bolt holes up near the trans tunnel.

Thanks for any help in advance. I am pretty frustrated right now. A butt ton of money for something I have to re-engineer when it gets here. Was supposed to be a 20 min switch out...

I had to cut a tab off and weld it in a new location for proper fitment. It has been a while since I did it and can't remember what exactly I changed, but I do remember the mounting hardware does not fit.

Here are pics of the pass. seat bracket.

First pics are of the bracket set so the back part can be mounted to the floor. you can see one of the stock bolt holes.

If I move the bracket forward to line it up with the stock holes that rear piece hangs out in space.

Also, if I move the bracket back, the pass. seat won't line up with the driver's side.

Do I have the wrong bracket? ARGH!

Another note. The tuffy underseat lock box sits up about a half inch too high for the bracket. And the whole seat bracket has to be moved toward the pass. door about .75 inches due to the fact that the tuffy box won't fit between the trans tunnel and long leg of the bracket in the stock position... guess I'll be getting rid of the box, or raising the bracket off the floor a bit.

I believe the bracket are universal for all their seats. I saw a problem with my set and then didn't bother to look any further. plus I didn't like how the bracket would put the seats higher. I may just cut the floor.

I'm a midget, so I don't mind higher seats.

The corbeau site states that mounting brackets are specifically designed for the EB. I figured I would have to adjust them a little bit, but the modifications I'll have to make are ridiculous!

Cannot believe they wouldn't notice that fubar tab on the drivers side bracket when they designed it. and the pass. side...wowza.

oh. not sure if it makes a difference, but they are the Baja RS seats

I have the same seats and sliders. Correction: i have no bracket as I was going to build mine. I saw the problem with the sliders.

I just welded in all the old holes in the floor and drilled new ones to match the bracket. At the same time i moved them back 3" or so for leg room. Regardless they didnt match up to the old holes very well. Ive seen something on the problem, from what i got the bronco seat mounts in general werent very consistant.

Having same issue right know you gave to remove the slider from bracket to get the drivers side bolted down. Then carefully put the slide back on the bracket ( get yourself some baling wire you will need it when you drop the nut in the slider) my passenger side is like your doesn't even come close directions say some drilling my be required

Hey Jackson. Sorry you're having this issue.
If you bought them from us (or even if you didn't in fact), you might try giving WH a call anyway. Maybe even before you call Corbeau. And you still have half an hour today to get someone live on the phone.
I'm not there right now, or else I'd just throw a Clydesdale link at Johnny to get his attention and ask him myself.

Even though I have not sold many myself, Johnny and Nik have sold tons, and both are very seat-savvy usually. Either one might know about this and have some more insight into the matter. Or not. ;D
If they do, then maybe they can help you out. If they don't, it would be good for us to be aware of. I for one, certainly appreciate the feedback. Good or bad.
And as I said, that's even if you didn't get them from us.

Even in my limited experience with them though, it seems to me that I'd heard that you have to drill at least a couple of new holes, as they aren't made to line up with all of the original holes.
I'm not sure why the manufacturer would make EB-specific brackets/adapters, and not make them line up with existing factory anchor points, but it's surprising how often there is a good reason behind something. Then again, sometimes they just make a FUBARSNAFU for us to deal with.
If nothing else, using existing holes would sure make it easier. Perhaps though, they felt the stock holes were too close together and that spreading the load more would be stronger. Just an uneducamated guess though!

I'm not suggesting you don't call the manufacturer. I was just thinking that, if you didn't mind making two phone calls, you'd be able to get another angle on it before you did.
I think Corbeau is good at dealing with customer issues, but it IS Friday after all(!), so you might as well have multiple resources.
Just in case...

i went rounds with corbeau about the passenger side seat mount, they blamed it on body stretch which i called BS on. we finally came to terms on them, they agreed to make changes to their mount brackets which i don't know if they did or not. i'd say call them directly.

Good luck with Corbeau customer service

I had an issue with a set of seats I bought for my '78 Land Cruiser and they wouldn't work with me at all. I ended up getting the stock seats reupholstered and installed. They are are more comfortable than the Corbeaus to boot. I hope it all works out okay for you...

I have the same seats..and same brackets. The passsenger side always needs to be modified...I had to weld a tab on the back side to reach that hole. The other ones lined up better for me. The driver's side issue you mention....I resolved that by detaching that lower mount from the upper slide, inserting the bolt, then putting it back together again. It's not a huge deal...can be done.

Well I shot an email to Corbeau with the pictures I posted here. Haven't received a reply yet, but they say within 24 hrs. I'll get a response. So, I'm guessing Monday...

DirtDonk- I'll give WH a call when I hear back from Corbeau. Like you said, they may have a good reason why it doesn't fit to the stock location. I'm a bit skeptical, though. The tabs are very near the stock location, and undrilled That makes me think that they were, as Lmfp stated, not real consistant on the stock seat mounts. So, maybe Corbeau left them undrilled to allow us to drill the tabs for our slightly varying stock holes? I could be way off, and probably retarded, but hopefully they'll have an answer for me. Also, I didn't really have the heart to tell you yesterday, but TODAY is Friday! Yesterday was merely pre-Friday ;D

On the driver's seat, I ended up doing the same thing naneumranch and airbur did, and separated the slide from the bracket, put the bolt in, and reattached the slide. It works fine, it's just a bit annoying.

Anyway, I've got the driver's seat in, and plenty of other stuff to get done this weekend, so I'll hold off on the pass. side until we can get a good answer.

Hah! Yeah, I'm now a big pre-Friday fan!
Actually, I guess I just worded it wrong, but I was referring to "tomorrow" (now today) as Friday. And that it can get pretty crazy at some companies, hard to get an answer sometimes, and even some close on Fridays.
Wasn't sure about Corbeau in that regard, so I was suggesting a call to WH yesterday just in case.

But I still like the Pre-Friday concept. I think I'll make all of my days that from now on!

Heh. I figured that's what you meant.

Gonna wait til the weekend is over to make calls. Not in a huge rush on the seats. Today and tomorrow will be focusing on items that will get the Ginger back on the road after 6 months of sitting in my garage! Hopefully will go for a sunday drive!

Meh, I've got the driver's seat in. I'll just grab a lawn chair and pop it in the pass. side for the wife

I can totally remember driving in the bronco on the way to my sisters dance recital...my grandmother sat in the back in a lawn-chair.

Somehow that didn't seem strange back then. ;D
