Engine Paint

What are people using for engine paint - I'm thinking VHT SP153 Old Ford Blue.

Also, when painting, what is typically painted? Block, timing chain cover, oil pan and valve covers?

I have aluminum heads and intake, so figured those would stay natural.

Just curious how everyone's doing it.

I even painted the intake on the last engine. Together with a stock air cleaner it gave a very stock appearing engine bay. Took a second glance to notice anything was different.

I also used duplicolor ford blue. I did use their engine primer first. Intake and heads left bare aluminum. Painted the thermostat housing duplicolor aluminum to match the intake.

ceramic high temp for engine, forget which brand. Goes on easy stays on for decades..

Color? Your choice, anything goes..

Painting for OEM? Everything on that block was sprayed one color from factory.

Like you, I only painted the short block. Alum heads covers, water pump,, anything attaching? Whatever I wanted or not. I did not paint the water pump housing or waterpump.

POR15 makes an engine enamel that can be either sprayed on or brushed on. I had the best results using a small brush.
