Yeah Ken, ain't no doubt. Sometimes I think I live in a parallel universe where everything is just a half-bubble out of plumb, and then I look again and discover that I'm the one a half-bubble out of plumb. But it does keep things interesting. Speaking of interesting, I went to get a replacement fuel pump today. Just for curiousity, I tracked down the reciept for the broken pump that I had bought EIGHT YEARS AGO! Says something about Bronco speak time, or maybe just about me. Yeah, likely the second one. Check out the prices! 20220110_151953_LI.jpg

Got the fuel pump, fuel line and brake line run and fastened today. I'm having a bit of trouble getting the power steering and hydroboost brake lines figured out. I have an Explorer PS pump, a 4x4x2 steering gearbox and a Mustang GT hydro-boost.

Well, it's not a yellow brick road, but it may get me somewhere. I'm sure the PS pump lines are correct, not as sure of all other lines. Expurts, poobahs and gurus, what think you? Thanks in advance. Howard in beautiful west Michigan

Lots 'o' chasin' for pieces and parts. And a wizard. Didn't find the wizard, but the diagram above seemed to be worth trying. The industrial hose supplier didn't have automotive fittings, the auto supply store didn't have an employee with enough gravitas to tackle the job, and the Ford dealer didn't even know where to begin. So I headed to Lane Automotive and we stumbled into some AN fittings that may fit. A lot of it was done by process of elimination, and I left with $300 eliminated from my wallet.

Today I mocked up the transmission cooler, first on the body and then on the chassis. Got a reasonable (I hope!) idea of where it's going to set and marked the hose lengths. Took the hose and fittings to Holland PT and had them cut and crimped. Wish I knew more about this stuff. I'm thinking I prefer the DIY AN fittings. Oh well, onto the power steering and hydro boost lines next.

-Mark (and Lucy) on the beautiful South Oregon Coast
Well, I'll be jiggered! I had always thought your name was Howie because of the BronCowie handle! Hmmm, now you got me thinking....... Is 'Lucy" your A) lovely bride, or B) your Bronco's nickname, or C) your puppy. I'm betting she's your lovely bride and you've found wedded Nirvana on the beautiful South Oregon coast. Anywho, thanks for the encouragement Mark, much appreciated. Howard in beautiful west Michigan

Gotta love those random pricey days... Those are the costs that a lot of people don't factor into the breakdown of restoration expenses. It turned out nicely though!

Notice on your return line routing.. At the "T" the steering gear return should be the straight through line and the booster return should be the tail of the T,,, very little fluid is returned from the hydroboost and only when you apply the brakes maybe about 4 oz every time you push on the pedal.

Really, really good information and very much appreciated! I have about 92 gazillion dollars in hoses and fittings and pieces and parts and lions and tigers and bears, oh my. I've been working on keeping it simple, but it seems the only thing simple is me. Thank you EPB72 for the input. I've been using Fragola fittings and hose, but even at that, there are different series that may or may not be compatible.

Doin' just fine, Ken ole buddy, other than a brief stint of CCPcovid. Did some industrial strength resting and watched several old movies. Any guesses as to which ones? The CCPcovid thing was about as much fun as a Colonoscopy only without the diet restrictions. Feeling more bright-eyed and bushy-tailed today so I should make it back to the shop to resume progress(?) on the Bronco. Btw, the snow here in beautiful West Michigan was beautiful beyond description yesterday. Today, any Bronco work I get done that doesn't have to be re-done I'm going to dedicate to Matt Stafford.

Glad you got over that virus Howard. Hope there are no long lasting effects. Warm weather will be here soon and you can go full blast on your truck. Matt will be proud.

Ken, at my age, any long-lasting effects will likely be pretty short term! That's a great idea about Stafford Ken! I think I'm going to offer him a ride, that is after I visit you in Hi with
an O on each end! And, O, btw, here's a bit 'o' snow beauty at an apartment complex I put up for seasonal transients.

Took some time today to set the body on the chassis again to gain a little more room. Ended up having to change tires due to old timer rims getting stuck on the rear brake calipers.

Had lots 'o' fun setting the body on the chassis again! Really pleased that the J-shift fit nicely and super-duper pleased that the 4x4x2 steering gear box fit just as a bug in a rug! 20220304_134036.jpg 20220304_141624.jpg 20220304_144732.jpg 20220304_152301.jpg 20220304_152301.jpg 20220304_152952.jpg
