Yeah, a lot of people remove the stakes. I like the idea that they’re in there, but they do make life hard during the on and off process.
Even when you don’t pull up the corner plate, the chances of scratching the paint going in or out are at about 90%.

While you’re dealing with that though, it’s the perfect time to figure out a cover for that stake pocket hole.
Not necessarily for when you’re running the hardtop, but definitely for when you’re running the soft top.
With a soft top those holes are just open air channels all the way down to the area behind the rear wheels.
Perfect avenue for exhaust fumes and dust to get in to your nicely sealed soft top environment.

I decided to add the air/dam tool tray from wild horses. I coated it with sharkhide first so it will hopefully stay looking nice for a while. I wish this was a one piece unit. I know I could probably have one made if I could find a big enough brake, but this one cleans up the front of the engine compartment a bit.

For years I could not get the stock overflow tank to function consistently. The radiator would push fluid out (eventually some would overflow), however pulling back was minimal at best. New hose, hose at the bottom of the tank, blah blah.
Thought about the later model dual tank. Went this way. Been running for 4 days now in 90+ deg heat. Push/pull from the bottom; working perfectly. No longer (did I just say that) will I have to occasionally add nor keep the rad filled below the top.

I find the 1L to be too small, 2L has been my minimum for sometime. 1L is probably fine if your not working your cooling system to the limits.
Interesting. I have had no issues at all with it. Running 408 stroker on 95 plus degree days. I guess that Ron Davis radiator and explorer serpentine fan are doing a good job

And you probably won’t unless you play in the sand or do some serious snow wheeling. The issue I’ve found is not over heating but get warmer than normal for a little more expansion and it pushes some out of the reservoir, then it cools and it’s not got enough to refill the radiator, then it starts a vicious cycle with a steam pocket that keeps pushing coolant out more and more until it overheats. My truck has been modded to the point that if the radiator is more than 1” from the top it gets a steam pocket in the heads and just pushes the coolant out it doesn’t actually overheat until after it has done some serious puking.

Not a saying anything going on there is wrong, just sharing my experiences

New rear mat, "waiting on the front". Fresh paint on the roll bar, and rerouted some sound.... it's to freakin hot in Arkansas for anything else!

Well, for those of us that drive our Broncos and make the pil companies richer...here's a tribute!

Haven't posted up my weekly fill-ups in a while so check out my mpg with 600+hp over 185 miles. :)
My odometer is within 1%.

It IS getting a bit more expensive for the miles I put on every week wandering around but at this point in my life- I don't really care. lol

I remember buying a 77 with a 302 back in '86 with a C4 and barely got 10mpg! Drove me crazy because my original Bronco back then with a 351W, seen below and which now has the 600hp stroker in it was averaging 15 mpg... so I swapped all the drivetrain out and put it in my original- and promptly sold the doggy 302.

Pic below is with the original Bronco & 351W I built on a 6300mile, 6 wk trip with the kids back in fall of '86.
