I do.. it’s all wide open. They were previously installed with plain self tapping screws. I was going to use existing holes and just get nice black hex bolts. Are the Riv nuts difficult to retrofit here?

Shouldn’t be as long as there is enough metal around the hood to enlarge the hole for the rivnut. I use them a lot, and almost always 1/4-20 but are available as small as 4-32.

They are pretty easy, either with the approved tool, or a DIY using a bolt. Used them on a Yota I worked on to hold various things like door panel and kick panels on the doors.

I dont know.. They're just sitting in the garage for me to trip over. I think after I finish the interior, I'll mount them and see how I feel.

If you are repainting everything anyhow, you might consider weld nuts too. That area might get wet often. Riv-nuts are great but weld nuts are more of a permanent solution that won't get stuck in the hole if the bolt freezes to the nut over time and spins. Great job by the way. Do you ever sleep? :)

Next it’s the tub.

And damn I love this car without a cage.

for sure.. if it weren't for the safety factor could roll w/out it. Wouldn't take that chance though

do they have company branding on them anywhere? I'd prefer a clean, no branding or "TBP" cut into anywhere kinda look and i'm considering these.

EDIT: called the vendor and they DO NOT have branding on them

Ran I to a little speed bump, I got the Covid. After 2.5 years of dodging it, it finally found me. Spent the last 48 hours with an average 103 fever. Finally broke this morning so I did the first thing that came to mind - go and work on the bronco.

I spent about a day last week cleaning up the inside of the bed, filling little imperfections with filler and glazing, did some sanding, and ground down some of the bad welds. Today I got some primer on it and did one coat of the Rustoleum bed liner.

I love this product. The first coat is not impressive. There is a section of the tail that I did a quick second coat on, and it looks f’in awesome. The product does not dry rubbery which Is what i was looking for. It dries hard to the touch, with minimal texture.

The way they create texture is with the spongy wheel they suggest you use. Honest, even this is a bit too much texture for me. Tomorrow I’ll do a whole tub second coat but I think I’ll use a roller wheel for applying garage epoxy. It should level it a bit. Also, I bought three cans of this stuff thinking I’ll do several coats and layer it. Way too much. There’s enough in one can do to two thick coats, and I think 3 coats would be perfect. I’m doing 4 coats so two cans. I want that nice factory look, should be great.

Still wet in these photos, but you get the idea:

And it’s all done. Two coats of the roll on liner, and then a light surface finish of the same product but in a spray can. It takes away a bit of the shine and sort of levels it a bit.

Next was test fitting the rear panel inserts, cutting them for speakers, and install.

I got these really nice Fosgate Power 6x9’s amd there’s only one place they would fit. It didn’t occur to me to research the size of the magnet on the back of the speakers but I think I would have put them here anyway even if they could fit elsewhere within the panel.

Another thing I didn’t consider is how tight the fit is. I had to get creative and squeeze the roll cage together to slide the panels in.

Then some nice billet pedals came. They were an easy install except the entire gas pedal assembly needed to come out to install the gas one. That was a completely unfortunate design and are up about 45 minutes of trying to figure out how the old rubber pedal is attached until I realized that yes, everything needs to come out.

Well worth the effort for final result.

Then we had the unforeseen clutch rod breakage.

I ordered the Toms adjustable and the install was relatively painless. Pinning the rod inside the driver footwell to the clutch pedal was the hardest part. I had to wedge a shim (one of my kids action figures I saw laying around the garage) under the clutch arm at the drivers front wheel well so I can get inside and pin the pedal to the rod.

I still think we need to come up with an “alternate picture“ calendar from now on.
That first picture in post #158, taken from the floor’s eye view, is a perfect calendar worthy shot!
