Thank you, Dr. Paul, for contacting me about this gorgeous one owner 1977 Ranger that the doctor bought off the showroom floor where it sat till 1980 in this Eastern Tenn. Ford dealership where the owner of the dealership special ordered it for his brother and he never took it home or did they ever title it till this doctor bought it in 1980. It only has 14,700 original miles on it and still has the original window sticker still in placed on the rear window where it was placed back in 1977. I ended up getting a Marti report and it shows this is 1 of 19 built in paint/trim back in 1977. The color is code B Dark Jade Metallic. What a find for sure and it looks and drives like a brand-new vehicle. Thank you to everyone that replied to my search for the just right Ranger, and it finally paid off.
Saw that in another thread as well. Congrats! What a wonderful, cool rig!

I have U15GLZ00690 and it was delivered to an East Tenn. Ford dealership and sat in their showroom till it was sold in 1980 to a doctor who I just bought it from, and it has only 14,700 miles on it, and it also is a green Ranger, and it still has the original window sticker on the back glass where they placed it back in 1977. Could you please tell me, or show were the Z00691 is located ? Does anyone know if Clarrance is still on here on the forum ? I sent him a message and he hasn`t responded. Thanks

I’ve known about this bronco for several years. If falls in line with being one of the very last broncos built. If I remember correctly the door data tag and the glove box warranty plate numbers don't match. But with all the other documentation, I would say that was an error of the assembly line. Another interesting fact is some of the very last 77’s were sold around ETN and they were green Rangers. Another interesting fact was one of the very first 1966 was sold in Atlanta and lived its entire life in Maryville TN. I’m not sure why the ETN was blessed with so many broncos but we definitely have some of the first and last. Post a picture of your door jam decal if you get a chance.

You are very correct with what you said, I have a new warranty plate coming from Marti to match everything else on the Bronco. I have a ton of documentation to go along with this Bronco. How did you hear about this Bronco ? You had mention in the first post you had found U15GLZ00691 or is this the one you were thinking of ? Thanks for your response

Surely Kevin Marti could easily look in his records and provide the VIN for the very last 1977 then all would know. He’d probably charge for the info though but may not hurt to check.

I bet he won't give out a vin without someone requesting for that particular vin.

I remember some older threads where similar requests were made for info from Marti. The response is generally something like this:

“We are sorry that is not within the scope of the work we do. We are licensed by Ford to provide production reports. That is the extent of what we do with the production records. We’re sorry we cannot help you.”

Oh, i’m glad you brought that back up. I love hearing details about the little discrepancies in production.

I have a 77 (U15GLY80290) with build date 7-7-77 that didn't sell until 11-18-77. Certainly not the last one, but it seems like these late bloomers sat on the lot more times than not. Were the dealers holding them waiting for the Gen 2 to show up?

Isn`t it great that 690 and 691 was only 86 miles away from each other for 45 years when the owners got them, and both were green Ranger packages. What a coincidence that is. Thanks for the history of these two Bronco`s here. Here is a picture of 691 that I found.
