Here is the front end clear coated. Still wet so it looks glossy. It supposed to dry to a satin or eggshell finish. It may take a day or so completely dry because of the temperatures. Hopefully I can get the garage to 65 or 70 with my propane heater.

Couldn't resist a selfie!!
That's fantastic. Looking forward to seeing more pics!

As much as I really don't want to, this Bronco is probably going on Bring A Trailer in a few weeks. The more I work on it the more I want to keep it. But I really don't have room for 4 Broncos and 1 needs to go.

Running into an issue with the clear coat. I'm using a flat clear coat recommended by the local (Pueblo) auto paint store. They said it would turn out more satin or egg shell than flat. Well it's drying high gloss! I'm taking it back tomorrow to see what's wrong. Bad batch without any flattener in it? May go to a different clear system and add my own flattener. I'm really looking for a satin finish.

On patina, my buddy who patinas guitars for a living (to make them look old, it's a popular thing now), he gave me a trick on how to get the tiny little rock chips.....

He hangs the guitar on a stand, and thows a keychain with about 5 different car keys on it.....I tried it when I had to blend a hood that was original pain and it made those tiny little chip marks perfectly!

Just a thought for if you need to re-patina any other spots!

Went to the paint store today to see what they had to say. Turns out the clear I bought had probably sat on the shelf a long time and the flattener settled to the bottom and would not dissolve when shaken. So they cut the top off the can (a gallon container with a small spout) and scrapped the flattener off the bottom. They then blended it in a standard round gallon paint can. They opened up another gallon off their shelf to find the same thing. So they did it again! They gave me the new gallon all blended and shaken. So now I should have a gallon and a half of hopefully good flat clear coat! I will try it tomorrow. I was happy they took care of the problem.

I don't know but I sorta liked it shinny!
Yeah, I had to think about it. I almost liked it glossy too. But I really want a contrast between the patina body and the nice glossy bumpers, Cactus Smasher and wheels. I should have it all back together in about a week.

Looking good Gary. I Understand about having to sell it. I was in the same boat with the 70 I had. Looking forward to seeing it all put back together.

Well, it's still a lot glossier than I really want but I'm going to have to live with it! It's somewhere between semi-gloss and high gloss. It actually looks OK - I was just looking for more contrast as I indicated above.
