    Efi bogging on 87 octane

Still got a tank of 91 in it. Running great! Next fill up I'll put 87 in and take it from there. Not much sense troubleshooting the issue when there is no issue.

    Efi bogging on 87 octane

Bogging started after the truck died on me due to the coil not producing enough spark. Went from an accel coil back to stock. I'll check the timing again today. But like I said, I tried 10/12/14 and then went back to 10. 513 gears on 37's. Zf5.

    Efi bogging on 87 octane

I don't believe so. I don't think any explorer blocks had them but I may be wrong. If I did it would be at the back of the block behind the intake manifold correct? If so I don't have one.

    Efi bogging on 87 octane

    - I don't know for sure what wet/dry means. I'm assuming your asking if I disconnected the fuel when I did a comp test. I did. - if I had a fuel flow problem, how would different octane make a difference? - fuel filter before the pump at the tank is new. Filter on my accumulator is 7 years...

    Efi bogging on 87 octane

Hey guys, Ford maf efi 5.0l. Explorer block, mustang heads and intakes. Been having an issue of bogging under load. I needed a new coil last August due to weak spark. During that time I screwed around with the distributer. Reset the timing to 10 btdc. Went for a drive, bogging under...

Lets see your junkyard air boxes

Bc link wasn't working for me and I couldn't find it on their site. But I did finally find an old thread when Chuck released it. Looks like a great option for me. Pm sent.

Congrats. First useless individual I've encountered in over a decade on here.

Lets see your junkyard air boxes

This thread is 58 posts long. It has 5 suggestions. 1 is not ford efi. 1 is still pulling air from inside the engine compartment. So 58 posts and 3 suggestions, all of which involve relocating the battery or flipping the intake to the passenger side. So yes, i'm still looking at options...

Lets see your junkyard air boxes

Wow. Cause the thread is about air boxes. Not my fixed detonation issue. How many times do I need to lay it out.

Should probably just delete this thread.

Lets see your junkyard air boxes

Well, it fixed it. Anyways, this thread is about air boxes. Not my detonation issues. Carry on. Edit - stock air cleaners pull air from outside the engine compartment. Which is why they work in Florida and Arizona.

Lets see your junkyard air boxes

bump. anything new? Had to start running higher octane fuel as I really noticed a lack of power at higher rpms in the heat this summer. Need to get this delt with before next summer. Problem is, I'm really running out of room under the hood. I'd like to utilize the plastic heater box inlet...

I replaced the license plate light, and then there was smoke

Philips, store computer. Clerk was no more help as he had, "never heard of an 1178" Maybe a 97 works on a '66? The only difference between a 90 and a 97 is a 90 has 2 contact points on the bulb and a 97 has 1. That's why the 97 started smoking in the OP as he had positive and negative...

I replaced the license plate light, and then there was smoke

For what its worth, i know this is an old thread, but i got steered toward a #97 as well. #90 is what you need (same as an 1178).

Truck died. Need efi troubleshooting help.

My dad's a mechanic by trade. He had access to a website called identifix. Basically we ran codes and then the website is pretty good for real world fixes not just manufacturer remedies. Read it on there.

Truck died. Need efi troubleshooting help.

My dad had it. But here it is; http://www.thexton.com/mobile/ignition-spark-tester-mp-34.html?redirectCancelled=true I didn't know there was such a thing either.

Truck died. Need efi troubleshooting help.

Got it running. Coil wasn't producing a strong enough spark anymore. Picked up a spark strength tester. Read that our efi systems should produce a spark strong enough to travel 1/2". Mine was barely able to travel 1/4". New coil and it fired right up. Lesson learned. Having spark is...
