    Dakota build pics of 66

More fun and games! This is a little from the amazing cage construction. Thanks to Nathan Shearon in Oklahoma for his unbelievable design and fabrication skills. Also you will see the spray on bedliner--cannot recall the brand name--however it is tintable to the pewter color and is sprayed in...

    Dakota build pics of 66

Body work festival From there I found a basket case (now that I know what I know) 74 for cheap that I decided to repair. Plan was to use the tub, and trade the chassis/motor to my friend in exchange for a custom cage. As you can see, it was quite the project, but I was not married at the time...

    Dakota build pics of 66

Here you go, for those who wanted to see some build photos--we will start in the year 2000 in a little town called Enid Oklahoma.....the chassis work began in my rental house garage. I completely dismantled my 66 and had the frame and components powder coated for $300 bucks. Can you believe...

after only 7 years...the project shows life!

before paint and primer Here is how it ended up before any body work started. I was moving, so I had to throw it together and haul it from Oklahoma to Dayton OH like this. It was fun getting thumbs up from other people on the interstate.

    Homemade steering....hope it holds up!

It is a small machine shop in Enid, OK. The guy that runs the show used these rod ends on his modified dirt track car, and swore they lasted all season. Believe me, I was apprehensive, because heims are supposed to cost way more than that. Mind you, this was the year 2000, so that $16 is...

Pics in the sun, with bumpers. Warning, she needs a serious wash! However, you will get the idea. Slowly but surely I am bolting her back together.

    Homemade steering....hope it holds up!

Here is a pic of my attempt to make my own bullet proof steering. I used grade 8 bolts thru the knuckles (bored out to remove taper) and heim joints that tons of people use on their dirt track race car steering systems. They should be strong enough? From there I located 2026 DOM tubing and...

pics of the cage from waayyy back This is the masterpiece cage that was made for my truck. It was made from scratch by a genius fabricator named Nathan Shearon who managed/manages the Auto Skills shop at Vance Air Force Base in Enid OK. I traded him another Bronco chassis with a running HO...

The unthinkable.. i'm selling my bronco, I need to know how much its worth

As my dad would say, "Well, it is only worth what someone will pay for it." What a wise old chap he is. I would say the $5K range is reasonable as well, from what I have seen.

    Cold enuff for ya?

Dakota is having the same "Alberta Clipper" as they call it. Basically means snot freezing cold air. Yesterday my eyelashes froze together. Why do we live here again? Oh yeah, because my WIFE wants to.

Doors hard to close w/ new weatherstripping

Not sure if my weather stripping is from Carpenter (maybe some of you know), but I ordered from the Graveyard and I need to go into a pitcher's windup to get the doors shut. REALLY tight fit.

    duff flares

Fuel Filler Cap Yanked from an old Heep Wrangler in the scrap yard. Not sure why I did it, really. Just thought it might add a nice touch. Sorry, orange Kanter. Kind of a reddish orange on my wacked out monitor. Either way, sweet rig!

after only 7 years...the project shows life!

Tires/Lift/Bumpers I will post a pic with bumpers on--unfortunately it will be a garage pic due to the extreme cold in SDakota today (currently -8). First things first: 3.5" Duff lift with hoops, 2" body lift. The body lift is 2x4" steel tubing welded in across the truck at each body mount...

Flares are not very flexible No, the flares are not very flexible. I think if you caught one with a tire, you may be unbolting it and getting out the fiberglass repair kit. Since the rig will never see SERIOUS trail usage, I am OK with that. One thing you may notice if you look close--we...

    duff flares

Funny you should ask that, I just dusted mine off that have been uninstalled since 2001 or so....here they are on mine. Kanter, thanks for the kind words. Not too shabby yourself with that red sport!

Light Pewter Metallic--GM color found on trucks and Corvettes a couple of years back. I saw it on a Vette and knew instantly that I was in love. I debated some contrast on the top or flares, but the paint man said no way, monotone is the way to go. I trusted, and he delivered!

after only 7 years...the project shows life!

For all of you out there with a potentially sweet project that has somehow stalled out over the years, I offer you hope. I started this project in 1999 by impulsively purchasing a 66 for $600, then beating on it for an afternoon before totally dismantling it over a couple of beers that evening...
