    93 Mustang EFI acceleration stumble

Figure out the charging issue first. It sounds like the alternator could have a bad diode. When that happens it puts AC voltage into the system and can cause the PCM to behave erratically. The fact that you can pull codes means the PCM is likely fine, but it's always worth checking the...

1968 purchased today, deciding which way to go…

It's a long shot given the colors, but if it's a 68 frame check the VIN against this one. https://www.findmybronco.com/ There is a decent chance that the 351 is a roller block. I'd hang on to it even if the kid doesn't get to enjoy it.

Explorer serpentine belt rubbing on water pump / idler pulley

I think that some of the parts houses list the pulleys incorrectly. I have ordered that upper idler and instead received the tensioner pulley which is a larger diameter. I could see that causing clearance problems. The idler pulley should be about 1/2" smaller in diameter than the tensioner.

New factory ford efi option with aftermarket throttle body.

I think it's pretty cool for the guys that just have to have that old school air cleaner look. But you are sort of limited to speed density unless you run a carb hat for your MAF which sort of negates the old air cleaner look. I would rather have the long intake runners in a Bronco application...

    OBD II code reader

My recommendation is to use Forscan for software. For hardware I would use the OBDlink MX+, or the Vgate Vlinker FS. Use Bluetooth for Android or Windows. Apple is probably going to be limited to Wi-Fi direct.

Explorer 5.0 stock replacement front exhaust pipes with CATs and O2 sensors - will they work? UPDATED 11/17/24

If you find something rare like a Yenko to put that Explorer setup in, I'll wire and program it for free just to ruffle some feathers!

unusual gremlin Electrical vs EFI glitch?

Since this has been running fine with a custom tune for many years, the last thing you should do is touch the throttle stop screw. Your idle air settings were likely tuned for the position it's in, so it should never be touched again. Something obviously changed and it isn't likely to be the...

Explorer 5.0 stock replacement front exhaust pipes with CATs and O2 sensors - will they work? UPDATED 11/17/24

I know there are a couple of people that are using the Explorer manifolds. @garberz is the first one that comes to mind. But I don't know exactly what was needed on the exhaust side to make it all work. I can't say if the Explorer exhaust with CATS would fit the Bronco or not since the frame is...

Help me decide, 4R70 or 6R80

Agreed. Part of the reason they last so long in factory form is in the programming. There is a feature in the factory programming for torque reduction. What it does is it cuts timing to the engine for a split second while the clutches engage to reduce wear on them. It's hardly noticeable but...

    Which EFI Tank......?

Thank you Todd! That is good info. Playing with this one some more it looks like I could slide it back just off the cross-member and make my own mounts, that would let me raise it up potentially another 2 inches. However, it just barely does not clear the rear body cross-member that far back...

    Which EFI Tank......?

Correct, my lift is 2". It looked to be right around 2" clearance to my body so it. "SHOULD" fit with zero lift. Assuming you don't have saggy body mounts. He designed it for zero lift using his Bronco as a template, but he has a 1" lift as well. So it hasn't been bolted in a stock Bronco yet...

    Which EFI Tank......?

It's discussed at the end of the video. You can email him now. Bulk orders will be going out to some vendors soon which may save on shipping if a vendor is local. There will be some available at SCW this year, but probably best to reserve one for pickup at SCW.

I went ahead and did a video today that should give this thread the closure that it deserves.

    Fun with 408

That sounds healthy! You couldn't ask for a better place to datalog WOT pulls! Download Forscan on your laptop and use your current flashing cable with it. Look at generic vehicle speed under OBD2 and compare that with GPS on your phone. It might be as easy as a single tweak rather than messing...

    WHOAA... noise, loud

Man, that sucks! I have been hearing so many lifter horror stories over the last 6 or 7 years that I put my new build together with used lifters, picking the smoothest rolling and best looking out of about 4 sets of OEM that I just hung on to. Even the FMS are not immune to inferior metallurgy.

Street Rig Only 4R70W Explorer 5.0L 33x10.5's gear ratio results from GrimmJeeper

4.30 would give you just a little less gear than the Explorers factory ratio and tire size works out to be. It isn't terrible but you're going to be turning much heavier tires. 4.56 would give you just a tad more than the factory Explorer. I personally would consider 4.56 the minimum that I...

    Computer mount location

Sadly, that Bronco was rolled over about a year and a half ago. =( So I don't know if he still checks in on the forums or not, but he is planning to rebuild. I can say that it was making some decent power though.
