    Big time power loss

I pulled the plugs yesterday, they did look like coal - I cleaned them reinserted them and ran it again for 15 min. The were well on there way back to "coal like".

    Big time power loss

By the way "Skiddy" although I am in NH now, I am a proud grad of the fine university in Norman. What was Bomar thinking? (if you are a fan of that other school in ....Stillsomthing disregard).

    Big time power loss

Thanks guys, I was in a meeting this AM. As far as oil burning, I am not burning that much at all. Besides the small leak which I (and my garage floor) deal with, I changed the oil/filter in June and have maybe put 200 miles on it and am still at full capacity. Is there an easy way to check if...

    Big time power loss

Hi Guys, 74 automatic 302 - I am loosing major power when the engine is warm. When leaving the house in the AM, lots of power no problem. 15 minutes later I can barley get up a nominal hill at 30 mps. It started a few weeks ago and is getting worse. I have an appointment next week at a shop...

ELECTRICAL - All lights go off when coasting

Thanks all for the info. Sorry I have not responded earlier….making hay! I thought it was the dimmer switch as well particularly after I had the tub Rino-lined. I put a new switch on and even ran a secondary ground just to make sure. Unfortunately, it did not fix the problem. In addition, I...

ELECTRICAL - All lights go off when coasting

74 –automatic, original 302. I have a major problem when I am coasting down a hill or coasting to a stop. All my lights (head, tail, instruments, turn signals) all flicker badly or go entirely off. When I am idling at a stop, although the lights are a bit dimmer and brighten when I rev, at least...

Head and tail light wiring question

The other night I hit a nice New Hampshire “frost heave” and now with every little bumb I hit, my lights flick off and back on. Where is the best place to start looking for the problem? Both head and tail lights (and dash as well) are all affected, so I assume the problem is somewhere around the...

    Dimmer switch / Dead Battery

Thanks Guys..I think they must have scrambled something when masking. Driving home Sat. night (first time at night since the rhino lining) and the lights kept flickering on and off with each bump in the road. I am not sure if I am going to try to change the short or go for a new harness all...

    Dimmer switch / Dead Battery

I just had the entire floor rhino lined and had a bit of welding done on the door post. When I picked up the truck the guy said that he had to charge the battery before I got there. I knew something was up because in the 3 years I have had the truck I have never had a problem. Even to the point...

    Need a new choke

I am embarrassed to say I don’t know. Sorry. I was told by my mechanic (who has always treated me fair) that it needs replacing. He tried to order it or a part and said he couldn’t find it. I told him about how cool this site is (although I just read 8 pages of BC shipping and ordering……it read...

    Need a new choke

I need to replace the elec. Choke on my 74 302. I am having a hard time finding a new one. Any suggestions as to make, model and who carries one? I have looked in all of the old threads, but most of them talk about wiring and voltage. It gets awfully cold up here and it’s rough in the morning...

    Help..Turn signals

Thanks Hot Wheels, NO...I am not getting a good connection to the other side of the fuse. The two "holders" on that side of the fuse don't look rusty. Any "safe way to bypass the fuse for a test, or do I run the risk of total melt down?
