Dana 44 Inner and Outer Knuckles

Reached out to several 3D Laser Scanning service companies, one of them quoted $600 to laser scan (6 hours) and $300 (3 hours) to convert from STL to STP format. I'm using SolidWorks to model the frame and drivetrain. So measuring the critical dimensions on the inner and outer knuckle and...

Dana 44 Inner and Outer Knuckles

Can anyone share a 3D model of the Dana 44 Inner and Outer Knuckles? Designing a 4-link coil-over suspension for my '69 using Currie Ford 9" fabricated axle housings. I'm using Reid Racing Outer Knuckles. Reid can not share any of their 3D models. I've searched for Dana 44 3D models and...

    Tie Rod Ends, Opinions Please

Paul, as always thanks for the great info on the exposed TRE threading. I'm also interested to hear from anyone who has used 7075 aluminum for tie rods and drag links. I've seen aluminum used in 4-link setups. Here is a video testing various metals, including 7075. The company makes steering...

    Tie Rod Ends, Opinions Please

I called a local a race car chassis builder and an aircraft supply shop. Both shops had 1-3/8 x 0.188 wall 4130 tubing in stock. I bought 8ft for $103.20. I changed to 1-3/8 dia to better match outer diameter of the threaded tube adapter. Also, when looking for a billet steering dampner tie...

    Tie Rod Ends, Opinions Please

After a longer discussion with local machine shop, its $25 per threaded hole - so $100 in total, to correct the estimate in my initial post. Decided to use the weld-on threaded hex tube adapters and 1-3/8 chromoly tubing - rather than threading tube ends and welding hex flats for wrench. I'm...

Duff D44 Knuckle - Wilwood Brakes

Read and looked at what others had done and decided to remove about 1/32" material from knuckle.

Duff D44 Knuckle - Wilwood Brakes

Has anyone installed Wilwood (140-13305) brake kit on the Duff D44 Knuckles. Having some interference issues between knuckle and caliper bracket. The knuckle area which interferes with caliper bracket has plenty of "meat" to grind away. Wondering if those who have done this installation chose...

    Tie Rod Ends, Opinions Please

Paul, thank you for the evaluation and sharing your experiences for the various options available to us. My biuld is primarily for the street, but I want to plan accordingly so that should I decide to go off-road, my design will allow for the components necesary to do so. I would install the...

    Dana 44 - Inner Axle

Just got my D44 fabricated housing, F9 3rd member, inner and outer axles from Currie. It's Saturday, so Currie is closed. Hoping someone can answer my axle seal question before I call Currie on Monday. - Is there only 1 seal per axle, closest to the 3rd member? - Is there a seal in the D44 outer C?

    Power Steering Box

Paul (DirtDonk), thanks for the explanation and advise. Much appreciated! I tried getting more info from PSC on the origin of the box...no luck other than the part number SG-630. Made a dozen or so calls in the last several days. Thought I got lucky a few times, but eventually they all fell...
