    Auto or 4 Speed?

As others have said, the 435 is a terrific/tough transmission (had one in an '86 F-150). Again, it's basically a fully-synchronized 3 speed with a super low granny gear. As I recall, reverse is also low...which can be either a plus (good backward pulling) or a minus (slow back-up speed), but...

    Frnt air bag ('66 only?)

Way-back-when...added Air Lifts to help support the weight of my snowplow. Was a simple install: (with no weight on the front end) just loosen the top retainer of the coil, pop it out to allow dropping the bag and pads in, and return the spring to its normal position and secure. Don't recall...

    Straight Six Power steering

Ran PS on my 170 for years...could detect NO power loss (and I did a lot of snow-plowing).

    Wiper System Needed

The spacing of the vacuum wipers is different (further apart) than the electric wipers...which is why (with stock arms/blades), no matter how unsynchronized they might be, they don't hit each other.

Why can't I figure this out.....

You don't have "locking" hubs (un-locking, actually). As has been stated, your hubs are always engaged (and, no, that's not the same as full-time 4WD).

    Magnaflow 15344 Pics??

As per above (70sbudget post), I am also wondering about the noise level from those mufflers. I like a deep-throat tone...but am not looking for a neighborhood disturbance sound-level. Bruce

    Magnaflow 15344 Pics??

Bronco Graveyard lists a rear-exit X-pipe dual system that I'm interested in (have not yet purchased). It runs the X-pipe and both mufflers down the passenger side of the tranny and drive shaft. It's part # 10098AX, has several photos on web site. Bruce

    MagnaFlow Dual Exhaust Kit

As confirmed on the Magnaflow website, this is a "cross-member back" system, so will only connect to headers, not stock exhaust manifolds. (Even at that, I guess I'd be concerned about which headers it would fit and the placement.) Bruce

    runability issue

Is the fuel supply to the carb adequate? Clogged fuel filter or line?

Replacing clutch behind 170 w/ stock 3 speed

Having done this on my '66 (about 45 years ago) I would also suggest pulling the engine. With a simple 6, there's not a whole lot to disconnect to extract the engine...supporting the tranny/transfer case (to pull it back/down) is, however, a real challenge when you're doing this on your own. Rock Auto closeout parts

Rock Auto I would affirm that Rock Auto is a great outfit to do business with. Because of their inventory and pricing, they have basically become the "go to" source for all my regular (not necessarily EB) auto parts needs.

    possibly 7 shives/pulleys on an i6

Plow pumps are often run off a secondary belt...typically from the alternator (or possibly the power steering pump). Run a 2-groove pulley on the alt., drive it on one groove...use the other to run a belt to the plow pump. If the plow belt is outermost, it's real easy to remove for the summer...

Did I strip it! (Please comfort me in my time of need)

Post (above) re: the not-fully-seated damper was my first guess too.

    Locked Hubs while in 2WD

Oversimplified, but my personal procedure (for all 4x4s I've owned w/locking hubs) is to lock 'em in the fall, unlock 'em in the spring.

    1969 Bronco 170 3 speed top speed?

My '66 came with the 170 and 4.10s, totally stock...easily topped 70 (though I'm not sure how far beyond).

Older than my '66 (that I purchased in '71 when I was 31). Bruce

    Best donor vehicle for 351w

I wouldn't assume that your headers will fit. Those fabricated by EB suppliers to accomodate the additional height/width of the 351W will be fine, those from generic small block Ford fabricators might have clearance problems.
