    The Evergreen Bayou Project 2022

As of the end of June 2022 and the 9 month mark, We have painted rims and bumpers, purchased new tires (BFG 235 /75R15), patina coated the engine bay and front floor boards, re-Installed seats & belts, secured wiring with heat tape, loom and routing and weather-stripped front doors. A visit to...

Brakes Newbie / Prop Valve Replacement

Buy the bleeding tool and be careful not to over tighten the connections. I toasted a PV, a rookie doing a rookie move..."steel is stronger than brass". Make sure all the lines are loose fit while laying them all out. Then when going to bleeding, snug fit and be ok with leaks in the...

    Engine ID Code?

As you can see, I'm over the hurdle of asking ignorant questions; but I think asking me to clarify between them was appropriate...;. And Ignorance here was more about denial of some basic facts. I had the casting # and I read the decoding articles to get to 1979 AND I read the post below on my...

    Engine ID Code?

Correct, our driveway test results were in part trying to loosen the system up and test the gears. It moved in 2H Locked only; 4H and 4L work in Free and Locked. I haven't done any suspended test for 100% confirmation, but 4x definitely takes more power to move the vehicle. And that J...

    Engine ID Code?

Thanks Paul, this is where it gets tough. My Uncle owned it since 1978 and he is no longer around to ask. Ironically, it's the reason I took on fixing it up. There is other family and his friends I can check in with. This also really opens up (and may answer) another issue I'm having...2H...

    The Evergreen Bayou Project 2022

As of March 31st and at the 6th month mark, I have 243 hands-on hours (not including computer, parts ordering and research time) and just over $2K in parts and supplies invested. We have hit most of our main goals. The Engine starts nicely and comes up to temp, maintains 180 degrees; the...

    Engine ID Code?

FYI. that picture is under the Starter, with what seems to be numbers for ID, (Part) and Revisions.

    Engine ID Code?

Great info and thank you!! I did read a few articles on Engineering numbers, and Part # vs ID #, etc. I was trying to rationalize that I had the date code wrong or there was another simple 'Ford reason' a D9 date code Engine is sitting on a Nov 1975 factory production. I now should go chase...

    Engine ID Code?

I'm basically asking if I'm decoding the engine correctly, as a 1979 build. Because, That puts a major question in my 76 bronco history. Its purring like a kitten, so I'm not complaining...lol

    Engine ID Code?

OK, so if it is 79 then it was possible to be on an LTD II. But, still not solving my original parts question.

    Engine ID Code?

Am I reading this code correctly? I'm getting D9OE and decoding it as a 79 Torino (which is a separate perplexing discrepancy, right?). And this is on my 76 Bronco.

    How much to keep Original?

Finally getting around to posting some of these measurements and conditions... My ignorant view is some cracking and sagging, but not sure it's within tolerance. Doors will close and latch on their own on any slant. Roof has bolts removed and is resting on body/windshield.

    How much to keep Original?

I really embraced your philosophy on the dash!! Its going back in cleaned, imperfect and even a few new blemishes. I don't know if its how Ford tracked this, but it's just that much more satisfying knowing the number on the back matches the VIN.

    The Evergreen Bayou Project 2022

March 2022, the 6 month mark was a wake-up call on the need to put things back together and how many tasks are really needed before the Dash goes back on. Yet, the Brakes became the saga of the month. It started easy enough with test fitting/bending the MC to PV lines. A little confidence from...

    The Evergreen Bayou Project 2022

After getting the basic “running” milestone completed in Jan 2022, the project priorities moved on to Stopping and Driving (Dash and Steering). I did a temp brake job in Aug 2021 using a new MC, bypassing the PV, plugging the small reservoir and tapping just the front brakes for transport. So...

Brake bleeding / dummy light update

Adding a Question...The PV does Proportioning, Limiting and Metering; so when hard braking and the PV functions/activates, would that trigger the light?! I have other symptoms; but found this thread on a loose search..(I'm having rear brake low pressure (not much comes out when bleeding and...

Can I see some seats please?

Stock seats in a 76 Wagon... unwashed...lol. I'm noticing the Driver seat is not perforated like the passenger. I'm thinking clean these up and have them available for dress up days and have another set for the Sunday beer runs..

    The Evergreen Bayou Project 2022

January was real progress and a big milestone. We had Spark and sputter in Dec and it was motivation to get the fuel system up to par. We installed a new carb, gas tank and Fuel Pump and cleaned up original fuel lines. I’m bypassing the gas tank at the moment; again, I just don’t want that much...

    The Evergreen Bayou Project 2022

There’s a very interesting phenomena happening…the work hours are in 2-4 hour increments and seem to be creeping along; while the calendar days just keep clipping by. I can’t believe it’s been 6 months. December progress was hampered by holidays and vacation (which was awesome). It did include...

    How much to keep Original?

Rustytruck, excellent points! I'll be checking out the channel condition! Door's are good; rocker's are weak and plugged with dirt. Undercarrage by antenna, wheel wells and battery area are rusting and needs attention. the heater intake box needs assessment and I think requires the front...
