Fantastic post. I am restoring a 68 Bronco and I believe that the tailgate was replaced with a newer OEM tailgate at some point. The tailgate has the thumb-sized metal posts with rubber bumpers as described in the original post. However, the liftgate, which I believe is original 68, does not have the corresponding openings for these posts. This seems to be causing me minor issues and I think the metal posts on the TG should be removed. If anyone knows of differences between the tailgates and liftgates after 1968 or had other insight, it would be most appreciated.
