It hurts in all kinds of ways to post this but hopefully it helps someone else to not make a mistake like this. I was pulling a Bronco purchase off a car hauler with a snatch block and what I felt like was well over a row of rolled winch cable when it let go. I think the end attachment opened up and then unwound from that side. Lucky for me this one is just time money and ego crushed. Be safe!

I had close to the same thing happen to me. We were loading a old nova with no brakes onto a car trailer....down hill from the nova. Lucky the trailer winch kept the nova from ending up in the bed of my superduty. Luckily nobody got hurt.
I'm glad yours wasn't worse than a few dents. Hospitals aren't cheap!

That sucks! These kinds of situations are good and bad. Bad for the obvious reasons, good for education though. Its always good to get a reminder from folks when stuff goes south. I know I have had situations like this happen and am sure most of us have at some point.
I am glad no one was hurt, still sucks for the Bronco and all the work ahead.

Even happens to the pros. Was having my car towed back home and when the guy was trying to unload and the flatbed tilted up he realized the parking brake was set. Got half in the car and half out to release the pedal and had not locked the winch down first!
Once the parking brake was off, so were all bets! But he stayed inside the car and probably put a crush in the steering and seat from sheer pucker power.
If he'd been a little further out of the car he might have fallen and gotten run over. Luckily that did not happen and the car was unloaded in one piece.
Luckily too that no big bumpers and immovable objects were involved.
Sorry to see JGO. Hope it's nothing structural.
