I'm not a theorist, well, OK, I am, but I wonder. What I have seen with cattle is; a few farmers get together and agree to bid against each other and buy each other's cattle at exuberant prices. They will even have the 'ol son in law or family friend bid since they would have a different name than the farmer. Prices go extremely high, the farmer pays the sale bill and the cattle go right back to the same pasture they came out of no matter who actually was the winning bidder. Even though they have a sale bill, it artificially inflates the price of cattle that comes off of the participating farms. Not saying that its' the same thing, but just a thought.

I didn’t care a bit about the dollar value of our Bronco. It’s a family heirloom, and it’ll be handed down. As long as it does its job and carries shit, I’m happy.

^^someone did a really nice job on that one! Not a fan of the red engine/trans/d20, but since the truck is red, it looks ok. I like the led reverse lights. Very nice.

2 daze left. Getting about as much attention as it should, not sure Y the others done this way got more (& got the $ they did).
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1972-ford-bronco-47/
Tell me Y this is a 30, 35K$ vehicle. It's double what I would guess altho as said above the mass rush into auction sales'n the net have sent vehicles up. In fact, B4 the net ('82 4 me) I did not see any bronk interest. I think the net juiced it 90%.
I seek an '83/6 dwn-szed LTD/Marquis waggy. Same, there's 1/2 doz sites for them so now I can't find an ol 2, 3K$ family vehicle (Chevy Chase's movie not w/standing). I cant even find one that's not been snatched up...some like here, have a 2nd. A U13 that's unmolested, they curate, just the last few yrs (10?) came into 'classic' status, save and another for the rocks/mud/DD. Just jealous I guess? rant over~
EDIT:
yep, stopped at 70K$.
I'd say the last 40K was just due to auction fever.
(wish I made 50K$ on the few I sold in the '80's, 90s)

“Was serviced with an oil change under current ownership.” Lol

you see that a lot. One of the canned questions from BaT is a request for when the last service work was done? When dealing with a Italian exotic that takes $4000 to service the timing belt the question makes sense. When asking someone who is flipping a tuck they owned for 6 months, the canned question doesn't really fit. But is asked as part of building the ad building process.

OK, look at this listing:

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1972-ford-bronco-46/

If you look at the questions, the current high bidder asked "two or four wheel drive?"

So someone has the cash to stroke $35,500 for this truck, and they don't know the basics.....I guess they want one because they are trendy. Might as well be a two wheel drive...

One thing that stands out to me is how many of these are just being flipped on here. Most of them the sellers have only owned a short time. The market is hot.

my point earlier mebco, everything will sell. They don't care. Flippers or "builders" don't even know. I see some "specialists" (in bronks) that seem to not know (or take advantage of short cuts, dishonesty to the "brand", markee.

Worse, in some ways, is the guy who will argue w/U "it's not correct for that bronk, a bronk model, certain year" etc. So I really don't care. U can do anything U want with it. Its just a jeep after all. Made as a utilitarian (2nd gen chero is similar) style, pretty much DD (there we go again - multi-purpose, good at no thing, OK at several**). Superior to the ones on the continent AND Japan for u.s of a (do hwy speed AND some fair off rd excursions).

I like closer to stock/oem than most here. Some sleeper-style mods for safety, may B increase off rd capacity, MPGs...but I like all vehicles to hold closer to their originality. Guys here d some amazing stuff. I honor their skill & ingenuity. I got mine for income and ease of DIY, a '70 in 1982 or 3.** so that's where the extreme mods come in. Asa body-on-frame it can B an easy platform for adaptation. Shock hoops, 4 link, etc. Guys who wanna 'race" them (sorta opposite direction) seem a lill off point (to me). But this is what 'ownership' is about: "Make it ur own."
As they begin to come into "classic car" status I C the stock/oem/less modified raise in price, be held longer in ownership, etc. What we see in the other classic cars. This is a good sign to me. I'd like this to continue even if prices fall some.

If you take a look at the thread on the cost of a frame off build the BAT numbers don't look so crazy.

https://classicbroncos.com/forums/showthread.php?t=291463

I bought a truck off BAT two months ago. I paid roughly $6000 less for that truck than the price I had contracted with a restoration shop for a build 4 years ago. My attempt at having a truck frame off restored ended up in my suing the builder when he received the bulk of the money and stopped working on the truck or returning my phone calls and emails. Buying any restored car or truck is expensive, restoring one is more expensive.

So I get on this one morning, and someone has now asked if the top is removable.....

Who is buying these trucks?

Obviously people who aren't familiar with them! That's probably the most commonly asked question about the Broncos on BaT, followed closely by requests to take the top off and take a few pictures....ummm....no....

I'll walk right by a tarted up, overly modified, shiny painted, over-powered, "look-at-me" EB to look at a original paint, period-correct-modded, rusty, survivor. Especially if all the owner did was write big checks.
But maybe that's just me...
