I've driven it several hundred miles (Houston and back) with the side exit exhaust and never smelled anything. It seems to be fine. It's actually a "temporary" exhaust I cobbled together from the PO's rear exit dual exhaust. But it will likely be there a little longer than temporary!!

Wow! About 9 months since I updated this thread! Let's see, not a whole lot has been done since the last update due to relocating from Texas to Colorado. But the tranny started making noise in second gear and then started popping of second. It finally became almost undrivable without holding in second by hand. I sourced a good used tranny and had it swapped in a few weeks ago - all my tools are still in storage until our new home addition gets completed. It took 3 transmission shops before I found one that was willing to do it. The tranny had never been out of this Bronco and 2 shops were afraid of the the old bolts breaking and the job becoming too much work. Finally the third seemed unfazed by the challenge and did a great job. No issues and it came out and the new went in with no issues. Working great now. Did some minor floor repair and covered the front floor with Kilmat sound deadener and laid a new vinyl mat over it.

I've been working on it lately to get it ready for Super Celebration West this next week. I test drove it to almost 12,000 ft and it ran pretty good - just a little trouble idling and the expected loss of some power. But I think it's ready for some of the street cruises or mild trails at SC West.

Owner: "It was my dad's Bronco. I'm going to fix it up someday!"

It's an uncut 66. It's at a small shop in La Veta, CO and he has a couple other Broncos as well.

It's been a while since I updated this thread. We've been finalizing our move to to Colorado and I haven't done much except drive it around. I ordered some TMI Sport upholstery probably almost a year ago. I ordered it with red stitching and perf inserts but they delivered it with out the red. They said they could not do red on this particular stye of upholstery but never told me before they took my money and made them! A bit disappointed but other than the no red stitching they look great. I decided to check with a recommended local upholstery shop to see if they could add any red stitching - they said no problem! So they removed the edge piping and re-stitched the seam in double red thread. Since I'm still without all my tools and my workspace is still filled with boxes (no time, space or tools!), I decided to have them do the upholstery work.

I stopped by their shop yesterday to check on the work and the first seat was done. They should all be done next week.

Got the seats back.

I'll get them installed as soon as I can dig the Bronco out of the snow! LOL
