Replaced broken speedo cable on 73 bronco. Fresh tranny rebuild. Back on the road. Problem is cable jumps around sometimes as much as 10 mph. Cheap cable or something more expensive?
Also, becoming harder to start when warmed up. I think choke is sticking. Repair or replace?

Re cable: First, check cable routing. The cable needs to be loooong gentle curves. If it was necessary to tie it away from other components, such as headers, the tie needs to be loose and not binding the cable housing to the tie attachment point.

Hi, maybe the speedo cable needs lube.
Cold engine. Take the air cleaner off and look at the choke. It should be wide open. Push the gas pedal to the floor and the choke should snap closed. Start the engine and let it warm up. as you tap the gas pedal the choke should open and when the engine is warmed up the choke butterfly should be wide open and held open by spring pressure.
When you start a warmed up engine you should hold the gas pedal down a little. Some engines like more pedal and some like less. Just crack it open to allow air into the engine. Do not pump the pedal.
Good luck

Try loosening the nut holding the cable to the back of speedo head.
Should be finger tight only.
It can bind and jump if it is too tight there.
