What is everyone using for synthetic winch rope these days. Mine is starting to show its age and would like to replace it before it breaks.

I have Tuff Stuff synthetic rope on both of my Broncos, one of them for 4 years with no issue and have used it several times. I spool it out and back in at least once a year whether it gets used or not. Gives a chance to compare the outer layers that are exposed to the inner, mine still look good.

I'm in the same boat. I'd love to replace my steel cable that gets used regularly. A good Black Friday deal would be nice! I have heard that some of the cheaper ropes are harder to free spool, not as "slick" and become kinda course.

I’ve been testing the $100 rope off amazon for the last couple of years. Very happy, just ordered more for my buggy.

You would happen to have a link to it?

I have been using one fro Olympus offroad, but there is always an issue when you order from them so time for something new.

Are you using the 1/2" by 92'?

If you are going from metal rope to plastic rope you need to consider the drum and fairlead. Little burrs from a metal rope on the drum and fairlead will snag plastic rope. The smooth polished aluminum fairlead works great with synthetic rope where it slides.

Just remember, you get what you pay for. I ran the cheap stuff for a couple years until it left me stranded. Currently running Warn's spydura. Some things to consider, how often do you think you'll use it? Does your bronco sit out in the elements a lot? Synthetic rope doesn't like sunlight, salt, it dirt and will break down over time. Every time you get the rope dirty you need to unspool it and clean it. And buy a winch cover!

A winch cover should help keep sunlight off the rope, whether it would be enough to keep dust out is another question.

Yes, pretty sure that's it. It came with a fairlead and the hook already on it. I can't remember the exact cost now but when I was comparing it was very reasonable.

Here's a pic right after I put the last one on.
