It all follows my #10 post:

Could in B in the dizzy weights'n springs rather than just the initial?..."

Maybe the mechanical/centrifugal advance (weights/springs) in your distributor isn't working? When your timing is 10 degrees at idle, what does your timing advance to when you rev the motor?

The only way to truly see how a distributor behaves is a Sun distributor machine. I do know the various springs weights and limiting cuts in the reluctors of Ford and Duraspark distributors. I don't know much about Pertronics. They aren't an upgrade from Duraspark that I already had.

The standard Flamethrower plug-n-play distributors use an adjustable version of the old GM mechanical advance system. Right there up top where you can get to it, and comes with different springs. You can set the stops to limit advance and change springs to alter reaction times.

The advance curve it comes with is what they call a "performance curve" but I've not seen specs on a graph or had a chance to play with one on a vehicle.

I can't tell from looking at the distributor, but if you pop the cap you can see which type of trigger it uses. They're available in three flavors, with either the Pertronix Ignitor II, or III, or the Ford magnetic trigger from the Dura Spark distributors.
All use the same traditional GM mechanical advance.

I bought a rebuilt distributor many years ago. I took the 72 Bronco in to a local tune up shop. The mechanic said I had 37 degrees total advance. He said the rebuild shop left out the set screw inside vacuum port in the vacuum advance that controls the limit on the vacuum advance. He sold me a new vacuum advance and all was well. I think he tried to put a set screw in the old advance but it was stripped.

Later on the roll pin on the same distributor sheared. All done by the same re-builder. The gear was loose on the distributor shaft. I think it should have been a slight press fit??.

It works every time for me and I'm not computer savvy enough to say why it won't for you. I use Bing and mozilla fire fox if that's relevant.
